Tonight on AC360: Florida Shooter claims 'Stand Your Ground' defense
Just minutes after we pulled up for our interview with Kanina James, the tears began to flow. We found her sitting on the front porch, alone, and still in pain.

Stand your ground won't work for this guy.
The law in my opinion is good. Of course everyone is going to try to use it, but cases like this will be thrown out.
You can plead however you want.. the judge and jury will sort it out.
Stand your ground has done enough good in my opinion to warrant it's existence.

Well the victim of this racist tragedy deserves marches ,boycotts and 24/7 international media coverage of how he was gunned down by this old racist in broad daylight in a park in front of children.

Do you think the daughter cares what color the man's skin was? No, he could have been black, brown, white, blue, green, lavender, whatever. She cares more about the fact that her father died right in front of her. With this, we should keep this discussion centered around how we feel this situation should be handled, without anyone pulling up "the race card".

I agree with the wife, however, in that it seems this Stand Your Ground law could be used as a free pass to murder. I mean, the entire thing happened because of a skateboard incident? Please.

The case will be thrown out. It has to be.

He’s using a statute in Florida known as the Stand Your Ground law to try and get the charges against him dropped.

Per your link.

The difference here is that the shooter was arrested and charged with a crime in which he has to defend himself from. He has to prove the Stand Your Ground defense is applicable. Zimmerman should also have to prove this, why hasn't been made to prove it?

Hope he burns. You don't bring a gun to a basketball court and shoot an unarmed man with his daughter there. Sounds more like the guy was looking for an excuse to shoot someone. He should go away for the rest of his short life.

Might diplomatic of you but the idea of this thread is not the tragedy of either but the race card being played against white people in America.

Just read up on the Stand Your Ground Defense, and you need to show your life is in danger, so its really almost the same as classical self defense.

This case didn't sound like Self Defense now did it?

Really. How bout you stop ignoring the fact that the black guy has to stand trial and Zimmerman doesn't? You know honestly there's far more white people making this about race than black. Chew on that.
