This thread isn't about the secret service agents so forget about them Obama's going to abuse his power to send them anywhere he wants anyways. My issue is that the White House openly admitted to censoring the media because something was reported that they don't like. Now that should paint a picture for the people that believe Gov't doesn't control the media. They show us whatever they want us to see, imagine all the atrocities going on behind the scenes. Why isn't there a law preventing gov't involvement in the media, allowing them to do so lets them shape and mold the populace into a false sense of reality. I consider it abusive to vulnerable individuals and to allow it to continue goes against everything this country is supposed to stand for.

Because controlling the information is power and manipulation of information is to maintain power.

On Monday reports by The Huffington Post, Yahoo, and the International Business Times, to name a few, were asked to nix their publications of Obama’s daughter’s school trip to the drug cartel infested country
.....

In an email directed to Dylan Byers of Politico.com, Kristina Schake, Communications Director to the First Lady, said “from the beginning of the administration, the White House has asked news outlets not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest. We have reminded outlets of this request in order to protect the privacy and security of these girls.

keyword to consider
Ask...hey, can you not give up the moves of my daughters to the mexican drug lords? cheers...

what is the problem here?

What I don't understand is this...there have been MANY kidnappings by the zeta drug lords, and other Mexican drug cartels over the past several years.

WHY the president would ALLOW his daughter to take a trip, school sanctioned or not, with secret service agents or not, is way beyond my comprehension....

How in the (snip) was it necessary for her to go to Mexico in this day and age? And I don't care if you are republican, democrat, green party, tea party...etc Wow......

He's POTUS you think he wouldn't send his daughter to a country that's dangerous, It was the U.S. Department of State that issued a travel warning was it not. Declaring a security situation in Mexico, did he not just do what he tells the American citizens not to do. Kinda reflects his policy's ironic isn't it. Say one thing and then do another.

This is what they call "censoring the news"?

All countries are dangerous..even this country.
You think any potus can simply walk down the street unescorted with tons of security and barriers?

Go to Ireland, you got IRA
Go to France, you got a whole host of people
Go to Texas..see Kennedy
Go to...etc.

As far as him telling Americans what not to do..as far as I am aware, I can go to Mexico tomorrow if I want to.

Not following the line of thinking here..is Mexico dangerous? sure. Is it even way more dangerous when you report exactly where high profile people will be should they visit? yep...your..angry that he -asked- for this not to be reported as it is pointless first off, and second off, arguably a national security issue (yes, a kidnapped potus family member would raise lots of issues.)

its almost a parody, isn't it.
I wonder if half the anti-bamacons here are actually just filling up their resume to get hired by The Onion.

I do not blame the President for wishing his daughter whatever small normalcey possible.

And I imagine she and her classmates are the safest people in Mexico right now.

The cartels, as brutal as they are, are business people first and are well aware if they targeted the daughter of a US President...(just for kicks...there would be absolutely no profit to it - and unfathomable cost), cartel leaders would wake up the next morning to a Seal Team six member tapping them on the forehead with the barrel of an AR-15. Seriously the cartels are violent...not stupid. Even the semi-corrupt Mexican Government would entirely roll over on the cartels if they did something that stupid. It would be the end of them, drones...special forces and not a peep or complaint from the Mexican Government.

The Presidents daughter is probably the safest person in Mexico right now.

When you're a celebrity, your life is always going to be in the public eye.

American culture is unique because politicians can reach rock-star status in the public eye.

Absolutely! The POTUS deserves some privacy and security of mind. Having the MSM report the where-a-bouts of his family is not only a personal risk for him, but a national risk for the USA.
The MSM has their priorities so screwed up.
