A Deeper Earthquake Cycle?

No really, I am glad you were proactive and did some leg work instead of just de-bunking or jumping on the wagon and rolling on. Puterman also did some calculations and because of ATS we are recognizing some really neat things. Maybe not scientifically but neat all the same. While people are screaming the 188 day theory we at ATS (you) trek on and evolve it to something better.

I really didn't expect this from you Phage since you are the ATS guru in astronomy. Are your calculations in geology just as good as your ones in astronomy? This is one of those threads that came from left field...

Well my little bit of code has been running long enough. It sniffed out cycles (up to 5 years in length) in the occurrence of earthquakes of 7.0 and greater since 1973. The minimum number of repetitions to "qualify" is 5. There are a whole lot (a whole lot) of cycles with repetitions less than 5.

Based on various cycles, these are the results. The last column indicates when the earthquake would fall if the cycle continues.

Very interesting. There is much more to the Mexican quake though, it was done by the numbers.

They always do this by the numbers.

I don't doubt this bigger cycle though. So two cycles came together.

Wooohoooo! So according to the 1241 day cycle there will be a big quake on my birthday in a few years! Question....was this just a random cycle generator you wrote? It is a bit interesting that the 188 day cycle showed up in it if so. But is seems as if the original 188 Day Cycle video/post suggested that the Mexico quake was not the one he was predicting.

What if you run it for a 7.5 or 8 or higher? Any difference and does the 188 cycle even show up?

Just wondering....either way.....not a supporter of the cyclic theory. Though history repeats itself, I can't imagine that natural disasters follow that.

For 7.5+ we hit the 899 day cycle. 4 repetitions.
That's the only one with 4 (or more) repetitions.

Heh, nice! So Phage, if these cycles turn out to continually stay consistent and keep repeating on said dates, are you going to believe that these cycles accurately predict large earthquakes?

Having said all that, I wonder if there is a way to correlate all of these cycles, it would be interesting to plot the location of each earthquake in a cycle and see if they relate to a specific fault line or each plate at least. If each cycle, or some cycles were affecting only one particular tectonic plate there may actually be something in this

That can't be right. There's nothing predicted for December 21, 2012. Shenanigans, Phage...shenanigans.

I'm sure we can also find clusters of quakes at locations with predominantly female demographics demonstrating a 28-day cycle. Of course, we could classify such a cycle as a lunar phenomenon, but I think we all know what the true cause would be.

There are no known proven cycles and /or causes of earthquakes other then the movement of the tectonic plates in days.
Maybe in years,but not 188 days and so on.
Man,what an ATS killer,you know,now what are we going to talk about?
