News just come in from BBC, Ken Bigley is still alive and pleading to Tony Blair for his life.
This is possibly the last chance the briton will get.
The US says they will not release any of the Iraqi women hostages which include "Dr Germ" and "Mrs Anthrax".
The PM, Tony Blair also said today that he will not give permission to allow the release of the Iraqi females.
Updated with video.
news.bbc.co.uk
A video posted on an Islamist website purportedly shows a British hostage in Iraq pleading for his life.
Militants have threatened to kill Kenneth Bigley unless the US and UK release all Iraqi women held in the country's prisons.
The video appears to show Mr Bigley pleading to UK Prime Minister Tony Blair to save him.

Tony Blair is in an impossible situation on this one and personally i dont think there is any more hope left.
(Update)
Homeland security has provided a link to Ken Bigley begging for his life.
video.homelandsecurityus.com...
In an 11 minute and 5 second video just released, British hostage Ken Bigley begs for his life.
The video, released by Zarqawi's Tawhid wa Jihad group on the Ansar message board, shows a visibly nervous Bigley, clad in an orange jumpsuit, making
an appeal to the British and American governments.

In the local press the family have vowed not to rest until Tony Blair is out of government if he is killed, which considering most people in the UK
didn't want the war in the first place is understandable...
Either way Blair is in a real tough spot at the moment and it isn't going down well, a much more tough position than Bush is in anyway.

What if Tony Blair says "Ok release the Iraqi women" but Mr Bushwack says sorry Tony but i cannot allow this to happen?
At least it would save Mr Blair some face.

That's what I was thinking, if the UK don't have any women prisoners there's not alot Blair can do about it (although I doubt he would anyway), and
I doubt his good friend Bush is going to come to his rescue.
As I said this isn't going to go down well for Blair at all, when ( I don't think there's much chance of an if ) this man dies it's going to
make even more questions be asked about Blair...
From a personal perspective I hope by some miracle Ken Bigley can be saved but it's not likely, I feel sick.

Theres nothing any of our governments will do, its not a question of "IF" at this moment its a question of "WHEN".
Although the deadline set for the execution of Ken has passed a few hours ago, this is strange.

Have to agree with Jn on that there's not much blair can do about this. And if this Briton is killed this is going to have some sort of effect on his
elections in the future.

I retract my comment about analysis of videos.
From one viewing, I noticed a different video camera was used near the end to zoom in on his hands. He made several irregular movements not attributed
to subconscious gesturing.
I will write more later.

It's sickening. Truly sickening.
Blair can't do anything, and this is probably the first time i've felt sympathetic to him in the past few years. Of course we all want him to send
in the SAS to sort the bastards out but it won't happen.
Even Teflon Tony won't be able to shake this one off.
The most sickening thought is that this may never stop.

Nerdling your right, i also feel bad for Mr Blair (Also GWB) and this is the last hostage its their last bet on getting the release.
Also the longer they keep Ken the more pressure put onto Blair,
The more hurt Kens friends and family are feeling.
For all we know Ken could have already been killed and they are just bluffing.

I don't think he's dead yet.
Sadly, this terror is aimed solely at the UK. The American 2 may have been there only to prove that these guys mean business. It's still horrific to
think about, even the news tonight has taken on this mournful tone.
Oh, The BBC is reporting that Mr Blair has seen the video.

I echo the thoughts of others here when I say I hope that somehow Ken Bigley gets out of this with his life - but I'd be very very surprised if he
does. This latest video is more about damaging Tony Blair and his Government, than it about seeking the release of the women prisoners.
If it suits the hostage-takers purpose, they will let him go, but if they think it serves their purpose, they'll murder him without a care.
I don't think Tony Blair would ask George Bush to help release the 2 women prisoners, and rightly so. If we give into these thugs, every criminal
gang in Iraq will be grabbing a westerner and making their own demands.

Maybe the best thing Blair can do is put pressure on other organisations known to back the terrorists, but exactly how, I don't know. Somehow he has
to find a way to threaten the ROOT of the problem, and not just the branches.
He certainly shouldn't give in to the kidnappers, and I doubt he will.

I cant stop thinking about this, it's making me feel sick. The thing is its easy for joe public to say go ahead and free the prisoners but if they do
that where will it end? Another 2 more prisoners?, a million pounds? I know its sad and I feel deeply for him and his family but if they do give in
and free these women we will see a lot more hostage taking with bigger demands.
God Bless Mr Bigley and those who have perished.

Just off the BBC right now!
Ken Bigleys family has said they are going to respond to Kens plea later.
His brother says this is good news as it means he is still alive.
The BBC are waiting for news from the family and the family are waiting for news from Iraq.
Abit of the clip was also shown, its so sad.

Family are going to make a statment in a short while on ITV.
Inside the families house their phone line is constantly open to the foreign seceretary incase any new news comes in.
Apparently these sophisticated use of media and the plea is working well for the terrorists.
Looks like we have a new form of terrorist psychology that is exploiting hostages and exploiting them to the media to a new level.
Will update as soon as Kens family makes their reply soon.

I'm so glad to hear he's still alive. I don't feel sorry for Blair, the majority of the people in the UK did not want this war and now we the
people are paying for something we wanted no part of, not Blair.
Many in Liverpool have been going to vigals at churches to pray in the hope that Ken is released, many who never normally go to church, now it's one
of our own and for what? F**k Tony Blair!

The news channels are preparing themselves for "extended night shifts".
I just took a look over onto SkyNews, the 2 "Crisis Anchors" are sitting on screen giving rundowns of whats happened.
I think there has been a development.

As sad and horrible as this situation is, I don't think the people who are angry whit Blair are thinking about this logically. If I were that man
and I was released in exchange for the two women prisoners, I would be the happiest man alive to see my family and all. But if the next day, I was
watching TV and saw that a few dozen hostages had been taken and the terrorists were demanding that ALL prisoners be released or if "Dr. Germ"
killed people with whatever kind of bombs that she makes, I know that I would be ANGRY that Blair gave in to the terrorists and I would feel like
people died because I lived. I think most people would feel the same way.
