As far as talking about meat eating, I could make this post long, and with lots of self-rationalisation and justification. I'm not going to. One of the reasons why, is because I know you won't listen to that.

There's another, more fundamental reason why, however; and that's this one:-

Neither I, nor anyone else, needs to care about what you think.

It isn't the opinion of vegetarians that bothers me, I've realised. It's the fact that you're a lot like fundamentalist Christians. You can often be extremely coercive. Although there are a minority of you who I do consider sane, for the most part you are a group of obnoxious, mentally ill, generally left wing fanatics, who think you should be able to dictate how everyone else behaves.

That is the one point that none of you focus on, though. Not about whether you're right. Not about whether or not you're justified. But simply about whether or not any of the rest of us need to give a crap. And we don't.

I eat meat. I'm going to continue to eat meat. The best part is, that there's also absolutely nothing that you can do about that. At times I've actually thought of uploading a video of myself eating a fairly large hamburger on YouTube, and (partially) faking an orgasm in the process, just for the sake of vegetarians; and maybe finding some tomato sauce that particularly well emulates the colour of bovine blood, as well. There'd probably be some there by itself anyway, though; because I prefer rare steak.

Have a nice life.

I'm not a vegetarian. I love me some meat, although I am a firm believer in moderation.

That being said, you attack vegetarians for pushing it in your face, yet you are doing the exact same thing here.

So this is my PSA to you that you are being hypocritical. To avoid future hypocrisy my advice would be to ignore them, and bon apetit.

PS - I love vegetarians and vegans. Especially the ones who recognize it's a personal choice and don't expect others to make the same choices.

PROTIP: If you are vegan/vegetarian and invited to a gathering, don't complain when there are steaks on the grill. Don't worry, I wouldn't have invited you had I not made wonderful, tasty, healthy, vegan cuisine specifically for you.

That's pretty aggressive. Pretty false too.

a group of obnoxious, mentally ill, generally left wing fanatics, who think you should be able to dictate how everyone else behaves.

My wife is a vegetarian, she hasn't eaten meat for about 20 years. She is not left wing, she is not mentally ill, she is not obnoxious and she does not try to dictate the behavior of others.

On the other hand... your rant is very obnoxious, your aggression towards people you don't know and don't care to know seems like the symptom of an underlying metal illness and it is quite clear you are trying to dictate to people how they should live.

I have never met a single vegetarian who tries to force anybody not to eat meat that wants to. They may tell you how they feel about it but I haven't met one yet that has tried to take the fork out of my hand. I just see a bunch of meat eaters that get aggressively defensive and treat vegetarians like they are less than human and aggressively attack them for how they choose to live their life.

I eat meat and I am married to a vegetarian, that puts a pretty large and glaring hole in your post.

By the way both the left and the right wing try to dictate how everyone else behaves. Political ideology hardly has any link to what you eat. I understand you are just blowing off some steam here, but really, what the hell are you so mad about?

How can you tell if someone is vegetarian ?

No need to, they will gladly let you know.
[/joke]

Seriously, I simply do not care what people eat.
As long as they are not imposing their choices on others, or bragging about how their lifestyle is superior to mine.

Edit : Not saying that all vegetarians are braggers. But I noticed from personal experience that generally a certain demographic will be more inclined to nag than others.

Good rant. I have met many a vegan who pushed their lifestyle as much a Jehovah Witness pushes their religion.

They usually look like someone who has been stuck in the desert for days, all emacipated and sickly looking.

My other vegan buds look healthy on the other hand and do not push their eating habits.

Dear Vegans... my food poops on yours!

Seriously, I've gotten the speech from vegans in leather freaking shoes for pete's sake! The vegans I know have forcefully fed me meatless chili and lied about it. Although i ate the funny tasting food because there was NO OTHER option.

I agree that people should stop forcing their opinion whatever it is on others..... but to save all vegan kind, I have met 3 really nice ones who have made a personal choice and do not force it upon others.

This is just one more example of how fascist people can be about things.

What the what? I choose not to eat meat. It's a habit I kept up. I have no serious political or ideological justification for not eating meat, other than it's benefits for the environment. I don't bother any meat eaters, because a lot of them are dicks like you and respond with this crazy bull# cause you met one vegetarian that works in a massage parlor in Seattle and think we're all crazy hippies.

Let me assure you. All I do is not eat meat. I don't give a f#$k what you do, quite frankly. I'll stick to my low cholesterol/fat diet, thanks. It makes ME feel healthier, and that's all that matters to me.

I could go on about how it's bad for you to eat so much meat, but you won't listen anyway. You just like making fun of people that are different than you. Very tolerant.

And if you didn't notice it and ate the whole thing then wtf? If you took one bite and thought, "oh this isn't very good," you put it down and stop eating! I can't imagine a vegan shoving chili down your throat.
It's just a protein substitute. I swear, some omnivores are beyond paranoid about vegetarians.

Great rant and I agree with you here on all counts......

I love meat and meat loves me even better.
They wife tried "Tofu" on me once and only once......
Why you ask did she try this silly white pasty crap on me? I have no idea but what I did do was spew all over the kitchen table and floor just after trying to get this big white glob of gelitan down and keep it there.

This worked out very well as to this day I get my beef, pork, chicken and whatever road kill if find on the highway be it deer or raccoon.

Got to love the preachers and the followers, however I am neither....
Regards, Iwinder
PS a S&F from me too!

If you didn't notice this is the rant section and the OP has every right to rant away to hearts content.
Nobody invited you to this meat lovers party, the door is to your left.

Well if you want to be like that, then likewise.

While I agree about the pushing on people I have witnessed by some...Same with Christians pushing me to become one.
As a Vegetarian, I've been preached to by non vegetarians and berated more than I have witnessed (offline and on) of vegetarians insisting others become one.

There are in fact millions of people who are vegetarians and you would never know.

So please don't stereotype based on the few idiots that ALL social groups unfortunately have.

This is the same thing the media does, picks the worst/stupidest/most outrageous/most extreme/most violent/ugliest/prettiest, of a group and uses that to stereotype, demonize, or hype, the rest.

I don't even understand why this is constantly argued, who cares what people eat? I don't see anyone pushing vegetarianism in anyone's face, if you feel like that then it is your own guilt, or whatever it is you're feeling, that makes you react to it.

Here's a short list of famous vegetarians...

An interesting factoid lol, a lot of people respect Einstein for his intelligence, well he was both a vegetarian and a socialist.

en.wikipedia.org...

"So I am living without fats, without meat, without fish, but am feeling quite well this way. It always seems to me that man was not born to be a carnivore." Albert Einstein

Well, as a matter of fact... sir

Imagine, if you will that you are on location filming a movie. The catering was done by volunteers as the movie is a small film documentary. Now, imagine people questioning the funny taste of the food and the people are assured it 'must be the spices'. You eat because you have been in the middle of the woods on location since 5 am, and you already ate the apple you brought for mid-morning snack because you were assured the food was taken care of.

Having gotten transported to the set, you're at the mercy of others.

DO NOT ever assume or choose to impose lesser severity of the situation. They knew I was allergic to soy, yet they used it. I had to be taken home and the director was upset because we couldn't finish that day. Lesson learned for the staff.

Just do we're clear on the meaning of FORCE:
Dictionary.com

force·ful    [fawrs-fuhl, fohrs-]
adjective 1. full of force; powerful; vigorous; effective
— adj
1. powerful
2. persuasive or effective

Force is not necessarily violent, obliging a person as I was is considered force. ... so YES, REALLY!

Omnivores are not paranoid, but the next time you come over for a bbq, those veggie burgers will contain 100% pure beef. See you Saturday!

Wow, maybe you should have prepared or told someone you're allergic to soy. That's your own personal responsibility, not anyone else's. If I made a bunch of food that contains peanuts for people and ONE PERSON is allergic to peanuts, whose fault is that? Maybe they should've told me. This is just like, if someone made MEAT chili, I would ask if there were meat in it, and WOULDN'T eat it. Doesn't matter if I'm on a closed set or not.

Don't blame this on anyone but yourself. And yeah, I REALLY believe this line of bull#. They totally knew you were allergic and just didn't care that they poisoned you. I'm sure that was their intention. Vegetarians can be so malevolent to other creatures, can't they?

LOL, feel better now you've got that off your chest?
I hav'nt eaten meat for over 25 years and try and wrap your head round this one....... I don't eat it coz I don't like it. Simple as that.
Nothing to do wiith impressing anyone or boasting or political or religious reasons.
To be honest (don't know about where you are from) but nowadays anywhere you go the veggie is catered for in the menu. Barely ever gets mentioned in conversation and I know loads of veggies.
Honestly, I'm glad you enjoy your food. No skin off my nose.

LOL so you're saying a bunch of vegetarians on a movie set effectively persuaded you to eat something that you are allergic to? I don't think the word forceful is appropriate. It's your personal negligence.
