It's amazing how much bickering garbage I had to read through in this thread. Come on people, give the theory a chance to run it's course. We'll see if it's right or wrong eventually. There's no need to argue for 3 full pages about it. SMH

Who gives a rats arse about manning?

It's another distraction tactic.

I hope this doesn't get worse, hope it's not a foreshock.

Sending out prayers.

Eartquakes like this happen all over the world daily. Theres nothing amazing, or bizarre about this earthquake today.

This 188 day thing that people dispute, like," See it doesn't apply,
it was 186 or 187 days so it's not a pattern" . I doubt the earth
follows a calendar to a tee. Whether it's 186 or 188 or 190 days
between major quakes maybe it is a pattern.

It was actually 187 MAYBE 188, but definitely not the 186th.

Give me a break. Manning is infinitely more newsworthy than some crack pot 188 day theory that proves nothing and predicts nothing other than "Earthquakes happen".

You don't care about someone who can toss a football ? How completely unamerican.

Incidently I was drawing the comparison you refered to so staunchly.

Apparently this is not big news on the mainstream. Next the danger lurking in your medicine cabinet.

Maybe the 188 day theory is more of "One will definatly happen" every 188 days, in addition to all the other quakes that happen through out the year.

Just throwing that out there.

1 Ok I understand that, so the next logical question we need to ask is 'why are the 188 day earthquakes different'? What makes them different to the ones outside of the schedule?

Well if true they tend to be more powerful than the others and as someone else said, usually tilt the Earth's axis by a few inches. While I am doubtful this will do that, It still fits in with the proposed pattern.

2 So something then is acting as a clock? Planet forces, gravity, ley lines it could be anything? Something is acting as a regulator?

That is the idea. I've always believed the moon to hold an effect on seismic activity, but it seems to be that something with a 188 day rotation in the solar system would be to blame for these. Honestly, I can't exactly put much stake in "lay lines" because in reality, seismic zones are pretty much everywhere on Earth. There are more prominent places that they happen, that I suppose can be considered the "lay lines" or lines of power, but I believe it is merely coincidence at the way the continents broke apart and came together.

From my understanding the theory should be defined as this.

'A large earthquake occurs every 188 days'

and not

'Large earthquakes only occur every 188 days'.

Can we agree on that so we can discuss the important things please, such as the whys etc?

A 7.4-magnitude earthquake hit Mexico today, shaking central and southern parts of the country, collapsing a pedestrian bridge, and swaying buildings in Mexico City. Plaster fell from ceilings and windows broke in the center of the capital, but the president said there were no immediate reports of major damage. The initial quake near the borders of Oaxaca and Guerrero states was followed by a less powerful, magnitude-5.1 aftershock that also was felt in the capital. Frightened workers and residents poured into the streets of the capital just minutes after noon local time. Telephone service was down throughout the area. A pedestrian bridge collapsed and crushed a microbus in Mexico City, but there were still no reports of deaths. A building in the neighborhood of Condesa appeared to be on the verge of collapsing. Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard's Twitter account said the water system and other "strategic services" were not experiencing problems. President Obama's oldest daughter, Malia, was reported safe while on vacation with a school group in Oaxaca.

So does this give credibility to the 188 day cycle theory? It is pretty spot on for this quake if you ask me. I know some are going to say it happened in a hot spot which is true, but it's hard to deny the accuracy.

I have been sent to 2 different threads
on the earthquake and then they close
the ones they send me to. Okay I suppose
this is the one to stick with. I did read
damage reports are coming in - anyone
know more about that?

The why is definitely what I'd like to know.
