Excuse me, but I have to disagree with the OP.

For thousands of years people lived without eletricity. Electricity just existed for the last 1% of the time of the human history.


For thousands of years, people lived without TV, satellite comunications and the internet. Worldwide instant comunications only existed for less than 1% of the time of the human history.


For thousands of years, people lived without contraceptive pills. For thousands of years, women had more than 5, 6, 7, 8 children, For thousands of years, half of those children died due to infant mortality. For thousands of years, life expectancy was lower than 40 years. For thousand of years, the total human population was bellow 1 billion people. For thousands of years, there was not problem of "aging population", and "changes in the shape of the demographic age pyramid". Just in the past 1% or so of the human history, life expectancy increased a lot, the total human population in the planet surpassed one billion many times, women now are having just one or two children (and some have none), and the "demographic age pyramid" is changing shape, with a growing "problem" of "aging population".

So, we DO live in a SPECIAL TIME.

The human life around the year 1750 was not very different of the human life around the year 5000 before Christ.

For 99% of the human history, things were very different of what they are now.

We live in a VERY SPECIAL TIME, with very special new technologies and very special new problems to solve, problems that nobody could even imagine for 99% of the human history.

For example: the "aging population". For 99% of the human history, nobody could even imagine such a problem. Now we live in a VERY SPECIAL TIME, where this "problem" is around, catching the attention of specialists.
