Good question... being they're the ones usually paying the child support.

So after backing down on making churches/religious facilities give out contraceptives, they want all colleges to offer sterilization services, private or not? It seems to me that Obama is really trying to appease women, to try to buy their votes and support.

So, how much does this cost? Seems to me like the government is trying to spend our tax dollars on appeasing women with a surgery that should be a personal choice, and therefore not be something that every individual should have to pay for.

Unless they want to borrow the money for all of that, which I'm fine with. I doubt anybody really wants this government anymore.

One less bastard child in the world and people would be saving far more than the cost of the procedure as opposed to paying for everything an unloved child needs from the state during his/her life.

I worked in a pharmacy while in grad school. One thing that always bothered me- most private insurance paid for Viagra. But some of those same companies did not pay for birth control.

Hmmmm, no one mentioned what I was thinking,

Interesting way to keep people from multiplying, legal genocide.

Let's see here we have abortion, check,

Sterilization, check,

Rationing health care and euthinasia for the elderly, check.

Just a thought, but maybe conservatives should stop fighting this. After all, who is most likely to take advantage of these services? Liberals. So, that would mean fewer little liberals running around...

That's true, you'd think they would be over the moon about it considering how we are always the source of everything that is wrong in the world.

Then again, if there were no liberals they would just find someone else to blame.

That is a good point. However, whoever said that the state needs to be involved in that process, even? Didn't it used to be that orphanages and such were operated by churches and the like, or were at least funded by the same? Maybe I'm just a jerk, but why is it that the state suddenly had to get involved in all kinds of things like this, when it was already taken care of by something else? Was it back when American Socialists weren't just a joke, fringe element of the Democratic Party that such things became the norm, probably through their influence?

"Why?"

That would definitely be my first question.

Because you don't know the history of said institution. While the foster care systems in most states leave a bit to be desired they are certainly better than the church run crap of the olden days. Abuse was rampant, children were unfed, beaten, sexually abused and forced to work ungodly hours for what little they got. That was the norm once upon a time. Just google "Orphan train".

So no, I don't think having the state take care of those defenseless kids with no where to go is a big problem.

Interesting update!!

Hoyer: ‘Free Sterilization? I Don’t Know Anything About Free Sterilization’

Free? Free!! Free???

House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) indicated on Tuesday that he did not know that the “preventive services” mandate the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued under the Affordable Care Act (AKA "Obamacare") requires virtually all health care plans in the United States to offer cost-free sterilizations to all women with “reproductive capacity.”

Well ain't that a peach. Left hand, meet right hand. OOOF! Hoyer must be thinking. " How in the hell are we going to pay for this?"

Here is where it gets good. Keeping in mind what just happened on Friday

On Friday, the department of HHS announced a regulation making clear that this mandate extends to the student health care plans offered at American colleges and universities.

At a pen-and-pad meeting with reporters on Tuesday at the U.S. Capitol, CNSNews.com asked Hoyer: “The administration has approved a regulation under Obamacare that says, quote, ‘all women with reproductive capacity,’ end quote, must be offered free sterilization –”

Hoyer interrupted: “How is that related to a pre-existing condition?”

CNSNews.com continued: “--hold on--free sterilization in their health care plans. Do you support the mandate for free sterilization for college-age women?”

Hoyer said, “Free sterilization? I don’t know anything about free sterilization. I don’t know anything about that. I’m sorry. The answer is, I don’t. But I don’t think anybody is proposing that.”

Don't you think they should get their S@#$ straight first!!

Well I believe they are promoting it, you know how impressionable young people are.

Exactly what is the point in offering free sterilization?

Have these women been asking for it?

Better to pay for a tube tie than pay thousands in welfare. Just my opinion.

It isnt their opinion though. They pay that welfare for a reason. Welfear children oftentimes make minimum wage workers who turn huge profits for a variety of companies.

Please, come November, vote BHO out! He has no authority to mandate
anything. He's a goof. Before November though, I wish he would regulate
Snicker Bars, everyone has the right to free Snickers.
