Massachusetts third-grader summoned to jury duty

It turns out somebody in the jury commission office
mis-typed the kid's birth year ......

1982

instead of

2002 ....... how could somebody be THAT dumb

I say it was a prank by someone in the office.

YARMOUTH, Mass. – Like many people who get summoned to jury duty, Jacob Clark didn't want to go.

But unlike most people, he had a legitimate excuse -- he's 9 years old.

"I was like, `What's a jury duty?"' Jacob told the Cape Cod Times in response to his summons to appear in Orleans District Court on April 18.

His grandmother told him it was a good excuse to miss a day of school.

His dad called the jury commission office to find out what happened.

It turns out that someone apparently had typed 1982 for the Yarmouth third-grader's birth year instead of 2002.

The mistake was quickly corrected.

Massachusetts Jury Commissioner Pamela Wood says a child gets called for jury duty once or twice a year.

LOL. Almost as good as the dog being summoned for duty.
Yeah, the system needs an overhaul.

Just to add... a recent case in my county.
Girl was ordered by the judge to pay restitution to victims
Upon reading the judges order, I found they had listed the wrong freakin' bank .
If I had let that go, that OTHER bank would have been happy, huh!!

Someone is being a way too slack these days.... doing half attempts at their jobs: It seems everywhere I look, I see something just not quite right!!

Can't they make some TV shows for these folks? Ya know, like the "Dumbest of Dumb" in the system?
