You either believe in god or you believe that God doesn't exist.
Not true. You forgot answer c. Agnosticism. The only sensible answer to the God question
Or d. - - Lack of Belief is No belief at all.
In saying "I believe that God doesn't exist" - - acknowledge God and Belief.
Lack of Belief in a god/deity - - is simply without belief.
I think satron has correctly shown that "the lack of belief" is not honest. You were exposed to the Christian belief system, but at one point rejected it. Your "brain" is not an empty canvas, there are reasons why you rejected the Christian belief system and replaced it with your own.edit on 23-3-2012 by AllIsOne because: spelling

Gee, it seems as if you guys are leaving out the fact that there is agnostic atheism.
Why would you leave that out?

I drink my coffee straight! there is either a creator or there is not...
you can't change your mind at the last minute and get some kind of free ride man!
I choose to believe, there is respect in it and love... great stories... couldn't be more true....
Agnostic atheists are atheistic because they do not hold a belief in the existence of any deity and agnostic because they claim that the existence of a deity is either unknowable in principle or currently unknown in fact.

Agnosticism deals with knowledge, not belief. When it comes to the God question there is not enough data to irrefutably tip the scale in one direction. Rather than guessing Yes or Now, Agnostics say WE DON'T KNOW.

I think you need to go up and read that definition.
You are comparing two unalike things.
