Alien species, megathread!?!

After , watching green lantern (yes the new one with Ryan Reynolds), I got a little inspired with seeing all the different alien species, So I was wondering, could we make a thread or a mega thread about different alien species of the universe (skeptics welcome ) I think it would be a pretty cool thing, to discuss what different aliens might look like. Their biology; would their culture be the same as ours/similar? Of course this is purely speculative, but I think it would be interesting. What have government officials said about the aliens? Please discuss.

Why not just ask the "Galactic Federation of Fraud", aren't they in contact with a few species?
