If people want to believe in the invisible man in the sky, or any variation on that theme, then fine. But, above all, we need a free secular society with a complete seperation of church of state. I can almost almost understand why a person would believe in a deity, but how you can reasonably oppose secularism is beyond me. It's all about the preservation of religious (or indeed non-religious) freedom, and the protection of the minorities in such a society. What is so bad about that?

Also, the level of debate over the so-called 'victimless crimes' is insane! Why should a religious fanatic (or any other kind of fanatic for that matter) be able to dictate what i can and can't do in the privacy of my own home, or anywhere else, when I am causing no harm to any other person. Drug use and distribution, prostitution, adult pornography etc. should be fully legalised in my opinion as they harm no-one. If someone does not want to partake in them then so be it, but said people should not be able to stop others from doing so.

The relationship between law and morality is too complex to fully address right now, but working out the best answer to our problems requires an accepted definition to what the words themselves mean. For instance is morality an individual or communal concept? Both law and morality are interconnected, and they influence each other, rightly or wrongly, to a great extent. This makes any argument far less clear-cut than one would wish for.

We don't live in a perfect world, and never will, but things could certainly be made a little bit better if that idiot Santorum could be removed from politics for good. Just saying. Why people would vote for him is beyond me.

See Snopes:

Source: www.snopes.com...

The quote cited in the Example block at the head of this page about "banning all pornography — especially gay pornography" is not something that was actually stated by Rick Santorum; it's a spoof combining elements from the candidate's above-cited statement on pornography and his previously expressed views on homosexuality . This item originated as a graphic image posted on Facebook to the Presidential Quotes section of , a political satire site.

Websites posting that Rick Santorum wants a ban on porn is ALL FAKE AND HOAXES!

Snopes has already covered this and exposed the fakery that started on a facebook page.

the original posters links are to lies perpetuated by hoaxers

True...but you didn't answer my remarks about all of those dogmatic practices and OT dictums (dicti?) that seem to have lost their relevance. Same God...same storybook...did God call the Pope and say "Hey? That pork thing? The seafood? Don't get in a schwitz about it"?

Please reread my very first post in this thread.
What makes you think that i'm not aware of catholic theology?
I'm aware of the tenets of your faith and have even attended mass just to see it for myself.
I just don't believe in it.

Yup, same here. Cenk seems to be one of the VERY few journalists who are willing to dish it out to both sides, and to ask questions others are afraid to ask. You might not like all his views, but at least he's not part of the "Obama worshipper" or "Romney/Santorum-worshipper" crews, he only cares about the hard facts.

I'm pretty sure someone skipping the MSM and only watching TYT and maybe the Daily Show and Colbert Report for some fun would be totally ok without MSM news...probably even better informed too

I just don't believe in it.

It's the same God, He reveals the one plan further in the New Covenant,
actually coming to earth to share it. We find out how truly loving God
is in the New Covenant.

You mean compared to his genocidal rape-condoning actions in part 1?

Not hard to be "nice" compared to that

Snopes I thought had a reputation for being pretty damn spot on. They are still pushing this as a hoax, course they posted followup interview someone did. I don't watch mainstream news as I don't own a television, I pirate tv/movies so last time I saw news Dan Rather was still the main guy to watch.

been using newsgroups to torrents when I got fed up with spam tv. and movie ticket prices for 1 person that cost same as buying the dvd here locally.

So I have a rss feed to snopes and had noticed this story being pushed this week and snopes officially labeled it as a hoax.

Anyhow it's nothing I really care about, even if he really wants to ban porn and gets elected president thats fine with me.

He can't stop the .onion darknet on TOR

Whenever some politician promises to make porn illegal, I am reminded of kid school elections where the popular kid promises to make recess longer.

How about education around pornography? How about better enforcement of the disturbing end of the scale?

That would take intelligent discussion. Something politicians seem to have a hard time comprehending.

They do seem to come across as high schoolers debating in a civics class don't they?

Oh no! I've been a witness to my best friend's devastation from her bf who's a recovering addict- for 2 years! Right now he's a recovering addict under the GreatnessAhead porn therapy program. My best friend tells me that his bf's been doing very well since February, but the memories still haunts her. The discovery resulted to depression and anxiety on her part. This is even more destructive to married couples and those with kids.

Any form of violence, implied or otherwise, in pornography should be illegal. There are problems in society but his broad brush policies are not thought out.
