Thanks.
I appreciate the backup; I'm not trying to derail the thread here, either, although I was pointed to it via another.

Yeah, I'm not joking. I'm not "mocking" either. I want to know why the Catholic parishioners choose to disregard the corruption at the top of their own hierarchy and would want a president who is would then be, for all purposes, PART of that hierarchy. That just scares the bejeebers out of me.

EDIT TO CLARIFY: Santorum's not part of the hierarchy....but if he wins POTUS, well, that hierarchy is then in bed with the USA. Yikes.

I wouldn't worry too much, Santorum stands no chance in hell (no pun intended). His followers are a (very) vocal minority, but a small minority nonetheless. The only outcome will be more hilarious Colbert Reports and Daily Shows, which is a good thing.

I don't think a majority in the US wants a guy who believes the earth is only 10k years old to be anywhere near the nuclear codes...just like they didn't want Palin to get there either. I give the US citizens that much credit

Santorum is about as "good" as the Ayatollah in Iran

He spits on the constitution and wants to turn the entire country into a theocracy. You might agree with his bigotry, but it also means that you can't call yourself a patriot.

Yeah, of course, from someone who spits on the Bible and mocks
Christianity in every thread he can find about it.

Pointing out the FACT that the bible isn't accurate and often demonstrably wrong isn't "spitting on it", it's being rational and logical above being a brainwashed religious sheep

XYZ, you used the word "spitting", I just borrowed it. Not very nice is
it.

The resident anti-Catholics, anti-non-Catholic Christians trying to defend
their hate and mock of Christ.

The Bible is God's revelation, it's perfect, no errors. You're thinking
God is human, no, correction, humans are "inaccurate."

p.s. Did you see my post today in the popular NDE thread XYZ? I posted
a Youtube for you.

LOL...right??

That's where I get my news. I even ordered and applied to my car a bumper sticker that says "Stewart/Colbert 2012" with the red/whit/blue, the whole shebang. cafepress if you want one.
(I also applied a Ron Paul sticker, but it might come off at some point...the other one never will).

Except for the claim that people can survive inside whales (total bollocks), that a global flood happened (also silly), that humans just popped up on earth in their current form (comically wrong), the exodus of the Jews never happened as depicted in the bible, and dozens of other things that are DEMONSTRABLY wrong.

However, you simply ignore all of it...because after all, it proves that for years you believed in a total fairy tale. Of course you not accepting facts doesn't change it from being a fairy tale, but I guess in your mind it allows you to continue to believe "dungeons and dragons" is real

They're both good guys and great at pointing out hypocrisy.

Watching Santorum's campaign is like watching the Titanic ram an iceberg before sinking in SLOW MOTION

The only difference is that while both of those happenings are sad, Santorum's campaign is a great joke at the same time...

The fact is our soul is eternal, you and me will choose Heaven or hell and if you defend an evil mocking those who declare it to be an evil, you will stand before God with your choice.

And, not to derail this thread, but your comment above speaks VOLUMES about hypocrisy...when you are defending the evil that the Catholic Church deploys on a daily basis, by not leaving the faith when you KNOW what they are doing. You are defending an evil, and mocking those who declare it to be an evil.

YOU will stand before God with your choice. That applies here, but not regarding the atrocities of the Catholics through-out history?

That's the whole thing. Any "sins" we may have to answer for are ours and ours alone. No one else will answer for them, and that makes my sins no one else's god-damned business. they are between myself and my God.

The same goes for other people. they will answer for their sins, too, and that is what Jesus spoke of when he cautioned people to remove the beam from their own eyes before trying to flick a speck from someone else's.

Some folks tend to read only selective parts of their bibles, and supplant the rest with "church dogma", as if some mortal man's pronouncement carried the force of God. in effect, they write policy for God while dragging that policy out of their very own asses.

I glanced at the thread here, because you had falsely accused me, but this is off topic here. I don't care about porn (except as it exploits children and women), but I do care that a Catholic wants to be president. No Way Jose.

No way. Nope.
He's no JFK (or Reagan) for that matter.

That being said, making it illegal isn't going to stop it, if he thinks he can just put a lid on it like a can of worms, he's absolutely delusional. People should chose to see the ethical wrongs in portraying humans like meat products and leave it alone by themselves. You can't teach it to them by putting laws against it.

So by that description you are against pop music, fashion modeling, acting in general, the entire industry of Hollywood? How about art? If someone is painted nude are they nothing but "meat" too?

From what you say, anyone who earns money from their body is immoral, or less worthy than you?

I'm sick of hearing people who obviously have no connection at all to the adult industries thinking they know all about it because they've seen a porno once. Guess what, just because you have an opinion on something that you personally wouldn't do, does not make you better than anyone else!

How about letting grown adults live their lives without having your "superior" attitudes? It's people like you, Santorum and all the religious crazies out there that make this world so f*cked up.

This Santorum freak will not get in. No chance.

Which is why it's not worth worrying over...just sit back and enjoy the ride. Hell, this is the 2 time in a row we get lucky by getting a clown as candidate. Last time we got Palin who provided us with much needed comedy...and this time we get Santorum.

We should be thankful for him running. Hell, donate money so he can stay in the race longer...we might get lucky and he ends up winning the nomination. Imagine it!!! Months more of comedy gold

I don't know what a "born again" is, so I reckon I'm not one of those, but wouldn't a Christian of necessity have to place some stress on the teachings of Christ?

What snakes? Is it supper time?

A "born again" is a person who has joined the fundamentalist Christian sects and thinks that a person has to be "baptized" as adults (baby baptism doesn't count), using the phrase Jesus supposedly said, "You must be born again."

In my opinion, he was talking about reincarnation. Born-again fundamentalists and evangelicals insist it has to do with being dunked in water and then they are infused with the Holy Spirit, and saved thereby.

Some of those traditions also speak gibberish (thinking that "speaking in tongues" means something other than when God in the Bible ordered it done to split up the people so they could not understand one another -- thus resulting in some speaking other real languages -- and they also sometimes refer to a passage that says something to effect that people who are "saved" or "elect" will be able to speak in ALL LANGUAGES....."we will have them speak in tongues", or some such thing as that, where the born-agains think it means babbling in nonsensical utterances that NO ONE understands, and so are filled with the Holy Spirit), AND handle snakes like cobras and other extremely venomous species.

I may be wrong, but that's what I gather of how they have interpreted "scripture."

Ah, like a Baptist then. "Baptist" is defined as someone who believes that if they hold your head under water long enough, you'll come around to their way of thinking.

And here I was, thinking he was making a poor attempt at disparagement. Thanks for clearing that up. Being a hillbilly, we never had those sorts of "born agains" around when I was growing up, and I've not run into any out in the big bad world since leaving them there hills, so I had no idea what he was talking about.

Snake Handlers I've encountered, as well as Gibberish Babblers, but never these "born agains". They must be some sort of vanishing minority. There are only something like 2500 Snake Handlers on the face of the Earth, so if I've encountered them, but no Born Agains, then the Born Agains must be few indeed.

I'm not against them, I just make sure my money doesn't feed their empty industry which contributes nothing but 'entertainment' and overall degeneration of human values.

neno,

Hey, you shouldn't mock the faith and non-Catholic Christianity. We're
in the end times, these are serious times. No matter what period of time
it is, no one knows their last day.

Instead, pray, ask God to give you the faith to believe, He will.

Frank Sinatra is/was Roman Catholic, he died a Roman Catholic. I am
positive he received the Last Rites. Oh, the 'grace' of the Sacraments.

Come to belief brother.

God bless you,

Your god does not run this country. This country does not revolve around your god. If you want to avoid contraceptives and pornography you are free to do it. Stop trying to promote the legislation of your religion.

Santorum is insane. I am watching his speech right now. Mr. Ban pornography talks about a return to a smaller government that does not dictate how you live your lives and he went on to suggest that here in the warmest winter of my lifetime that the climate has changed in a way proving global warming was wrong. Every other sentence is complete jackassery.

Yeah, sorry but I'll pass...mostly because of this direct quote from Frank Sinatra:

It's fine for you to have faith. It's your right. No one should force their beliefs upon you.

On the other hand, I don't want Cannon Law to dictate what I can do with MY life. Cannon Law is just like Sharia Law, it has no place in our government. We cannot allow religious dictates to determine our legislation. And we as a people need to understand that there is a time and a place for politics, and a time and a place for religion. These two things should not ever be combined, nor should we elect people who would force their personal religious beliefs upon the masses.

Have your faith, for some, faith is a good thing. If it works for you, then more power to you. Leave me out of it.
