You also have the freedom to Go To Hell following whatever you consider your "freedom and liberty".

No man has the right to SIN in God's eyes....without out paying for that sin. You reap what you sow, karma, the circle of life....etc.

Be careful what you wish for in your liberty. I'm all for the government outlawing sins that are clearly labeled as sins in the HOLY Bible.

Just because you believe in this delusion doesn't mean it gives you or that nut-job Santorum to force your religious beliefs on anyone.

Your right and what does your bible tell you will happen to you for judging someone else?

It's really hard to not judge others, I try and it can be nearly impossible sometimes. I do agree with your message though.

Well, it all comes down to one question now doesn't it? Is Rick a guy you want to dictate what goes on in other people's pants/minds/bedrooms?
I kinda wish he as running up here so I could really have a field day.

Conversely could you imagine Trudeau in the States?

Nowadays, they'd just lynch him...but back in the day:

When it was revealed that President Richard Nixon called Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau "an asshole" in his private tapes, Trudeau responded with, "I've been called worse things by better people." www.cbc.ca...

Incidently, what exactly are you against in regards to secular humanism?

Which part offends you?

This perhaps would not be the thread to go into a full discussion on the whys and wherefores of humanist philosophy, also the answer is just not simple and definitely not a one-liner. Maybe some day I will make a thread on humanism.

But I guess the short version is that while humanists themselves have claimed that humanism is a religion(which if taught in schools violates the so-called separation of church and state) they generally deny the existence of God, and suggest that there are no moral absolutes. Thus there is no absolute in mercy killing, there is no absolute that pedophilia is a terrible practice. It is all in the eye of the beholder. And we see in society today that there are no moral absolutes. Moral Relativsm is one of the biggest pieces of humanist philosophy. Even in religious humanism, the absolutism of God is downplayed.
In fact, the article I posted earlier tells pretty simply what is going on in the schools.

The secularists had no intention of creating a neutral, nontheistic vacuum in our schools. Their plan always was to get rid of Judeo-Christian values and replace them with their own. In this way, the government schools have become, beyond a shadow of a doubt, establishments of the humanist religion.
Today, humanist beliefs are inculcated through such programs and concepts as values clarification, sensitivity training, situational ethics, evolution, multiculturalism, globalism, transcendental meditation, sex education, death education, humanistic and behavioral psychology, etc. All of these programs are marbleized throughout the curriculum — in reading, language arts, math, social studies, health education, psychology, art, biology, and other subjects. It is impossible for a student in a government school to avoid or escape the all-pervasive influence of humanist ideas and beliefs which confront and accost him daily every which way he turns.

In short, Obama will take this one down. It's just whether he'll have to work a bit for it (Romney), or not at all (Santorum). If Santorum runs against him, it will be like watching a months-long Colbert Report...awesome comedic value. Hell, I hope Santorum runs against him.

The Republicans had a perfectly good candidate, and threw him away. No, not Ron Paul---but Jon Huntsman. He had a normal pro-business Republican economic policy, but he wasn't crazy nor (even though he is very wealthy too) was he stuck in the stinky air of the money extraction class.

He wasn't a religious freak, a hater, or a snarling warmonger. That also meant he had no chance of winning today's Republican nomination, since a good proportion of that electorate seems to have poisoned itself with fear and ignorance.

Somebody in the Obama administration/politcial camp admitted a few months ago that when they saw the initial field they were the most afraid of Huntsman, he had no blatant weaknesses.

I just checked out that list of shootings. I will be honest I did not know of so many shootings. I have been more aware of the high profile shootings politicized lately.

Thats the point
Its a media fabrication.
You can start asking why of course..who gains when people become paranoid about something thats been going on for..well, as long as America existed.
But the one clear thing is that the more things come into your home through media, net, etc..the more freaked out the population becomes, and also thinks its some sort of unique thing that just started happening and is rampant everywhere.

But you really should know that the politicization of school shootings is a liberal strategy to disarm the populace and excuse for gun control.

I disagree (of course).
The kids shooting up the place are not doing it from guns they purchased legally...and contrary to your belief, libs don't want to eliminate guns (ok, some do, the fringe). They just want control. a person doesn't need a fully automatic freaking gatling gun to take down a deer or protect his/her property..nor does a hand pistol need to shoot endlessly without reloading..etc. arguably common sense laws. No, guns will not take over the government..doesn't matter if every rebel has RPGs...so, what is a gun for? its for personal protection, hunting, and sport. You don't need landmines for that.

ok, moving away from a gun rant.

That being said, the parents may have had some effect but I doubt it was parents demanding police protection and airport like security screening along with 12 foot high chain link fencing around the perimeter making the schools feel more like prisons than an educational center.

-eyes narrow-
That is because the effin reps made a "omg Turr-ists under your car" reaction to everything, people flipped right out, and -demanded- airports and such be better secured.
action - reaction - overreaction - consequence.
The problem is not the politicians, the problem is a population so flipped out by media spinning that they feel they are literally under attack 24/7 and begging for shelter from everything.

The public is a funny sort of retard. They flip out and scream for action...then when action is taken according to their demands, the same public call the politicians totalitarian nazi's.

Politics is a great career to go into for those enjoying mental masochism.

(incidently, this post has been off topic. if a mod deems it appropriate, feel free to remove it. heh, I am off topic on my own thread..how typical)

If you do make a thread on it, and I haven't shown up..give me a U2U. I would love to counter-argue the subject with you and others. And your right..this is not the place to open up such a can of worms.

Hell, I wouldn't mind doing a proper debate with you on this actually. Wonder if it can be set up..
But not tonight. I am about to kick off a zombie fest to prepare for tomorrow's walking dead finale...so attention will be minimal.

You said it. Incest is the dirty little secret of the Amish. Just another example of religious suppression in action.

At least the Amish community doesn't expect government to impose their way of life on the rest of us yet that's exactly what these religious fanatics want.

What does that say about religion in general if a group as structured and suppressed as the Amish can't rely on faith/religion alone to keep them from temptation? As far as giving them porn I'm willing to bet most Amish men already have a stash out in the barn.

I don't ever recall asking for chain link fences around my kid's high school, or for the program of whisking away kid's to some secret location away from the parents(yes that was a real program and may possibly be still in effect, and I read the parents would not be allowed to pick up their kids in time of emergency). I am convinced it was Statists on both the left and right responsible for it.

You are going to look at me with a straight face and tell me that Democrats aren't trying in every administration to enact gun control legislation (for our own good of course) ?

Well, he had a few flaws actually, but overall, yes..he appeared to be a very strong contender.
You can actually blame Ron Paul supporters for giving a pretty hard blow to him

They decided to make him seem like some sort of Chinese secret agent.

Reps have been ripping each other to shreds. You would think Hillary and Obama were dating in comparison with this years tactics.

IDK porn is horrible is has lead to the increase in sexual activity and the obvious over population, sexual crimes, and the confusion on what sex is.

But then again I'm not about to let some spineless politician tell me or anyone else what we can or cant do.

Santorum has no chance, I suspect he knows this. He's gone against his own political advisers before, The Times reported when he released his book before the Va senate elections, it pretty much doomed his chances and he didn't seem to care. The more he speaks, the more people are seeing what a true faith based candidate looks like. A crushing defeat might be just what's needed to put things in perspective.

This is a pretty good way for republicans to see just how strong the evangelical vote really is. Could be useful down the road.

I posted this a while back and believe it more than ever

oh sh*....

dude.... OBAMA IS GOING TO WIN AGAIN........... FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

why can't Ron Paul just Win, it would be so awesome! i think, no I KNOW so much good would come of it!!!!!

we would be more free! it would be a golden age of happiness and libertarianism!!! people could do most of the things they wanted, (not bad evil things) and be happy!!!

if all the candidates are reading this right now (yea right... ) Please just step down and let Ron paul win, PLEASE.

im a good person, and i want to see someone who i think is a good person be in charge of protecting me and my country from things that can hurts us/we don't like, without doing stuff to us we don't want!

it would go up in history as "the time everybody was just like 'Cmon' and they were like, 'Okay' "

he is ment to make the chosen one palatable.

I kinda think most people on ATS know the word palatable... I would be surprised if a third grader didn't...

Isn't it 'meant'?

-ment suffix forming nouns, originally from Fr. and representing L. -mentum, which was added to verb stems sometimes to represent the result or product of the action. Used with English verb stems from 16c. (e.g. merriment, which also illustrates the habit of turning -y to -i- before this suffix).

Perhaps you meant.... 'meant'.

meant verb simple past tense and past participle of mean1 .

From the same source.

Is it porn if : no wait. Small and medium sized animals count too.
I guess there's nothing we can do but turn ourselves in, buddy. sarc
With everything else going on right now that's a threat to free speech,
including goons clubbing people that seem to coagulate in front of banks
-- I fail to see whatever wrong there is in watching two people NOT kill
each other. If our media, on the other hand, wasn't so completely scrubbed
clean of the true brutal reality of what our government's actually doing, this
is a tempest in a T&A. Another classic pot calling the pipe green deal..
Thanks Domo-- STAR for the racepalm LMAO first time all day...
