So do you mean the GPS would involve laser theodolite ect?
I used to work as a steel-fixer before laser theodolite'.

If you have ever seen how complicated and exact the tolerance has to be, i believe the
'point-pegging' would take a lot of time, 24-48hrs plus. Even with multiple laser theodolites.

On factor of crop circles that puts doubt on the hoax theory is that the affected stems are found to be heated/burnt from inside the stalk at the point where they bend. The stalk also continues to grow despite this, and they are interwoven on the ground with other stalks producing a very distinct and even pattern.

I think its safe to say that a plank of wood and some rope would not produce these same results.

I think the members would do well to look at some of the pictures of the Alien Face & Disc. Take a look at the below couple of pages:
