CIA Chief: We’ll Spy on You Through Your Dishwasher

This is it folks; 1984. The CIA admits they will start using appliances to spy on US citizens.

More and more personal and household devices are connecting to the internet, from your television to your car navigation systems to your light switches. CIA Director David Petraeus cannot wait to spy on you through them.

“Items of interest will be located, identified, monitored, and remotely controlled through technologies such as radio-frequency identification, sensor networks, tiny embedded servers, and energy harvesters — all connected to the next-generation internet using abundant, low-cost, and high-power computing,” Petraeus said, “the latter now going to cloud computing, in many areas greater and greater supercomputing, and, ultimately, heading to quantum computing.”

Your TV is now a CIA asset

The ramifications of this are astounding. It's why i don't own ANY of this "smart" appliance technology. Apparently I live like a dinosaur now a days and you know what? I have much less problems with my old outdated appliances, TV, and smart phone. Why in the hell would I need to plug my washing machine into the internet? Why does a washing machine or a TV even need a 2 way camera? Are people so brainwashed by advertising that they'll throw their personal security right down the toilet in the name of keeping up with the Jones and having the latest techno-gizmo? YES.

Seriously, people, how much longer are we going to put up with this? This waiting has got to be driving some of you nuts like it is me.

I have whited out every thing i own with a light on it. As a few months back a guy found out that his dvd player had a tracking device in it. But, sheesh, I never thought about the dishwasher. Thanks for letting me know cia, appreciate the info.

Believe me, IF I could live without mine for work purposes, I'd break the damn thing with a sledge hammer.

If you read the privacy policy for ANY Android app, they all use your camera, GPS etc. You really have to watch it and make sure your GPS is turned off (until you need it).

The sad thing is all the trendies who blindly embrace all this new technology without even thinking of the ramifications. I mean, come on! Any person with 1/4 of a brain should just step back and ask the question: why does a dishwasher need to be connected to the internet? The internet can't load the dishes for you!

Sounds like a very paranoid government to me. Hey, Panetta, afraid the U.S. population is gonna come after ya? You should be. All your "Smart" technology isn't gonna save you when you when your time comes, jack ass.

The saddest aspect of this is, while the establishment has increased all means to monitor the public, they have also declared that those seeking to "live off the grid" are to be carefully watched as a potential threat.

I wonder how my great-great-grandfather would have reacted to all this...

i thought this was common knowledge
an old man that taught me how to repair old crt tvs
told me this

i started my electronic training in the late 60s
by the mid 70s some certain makes of tvs had an added chip
i said what do you mean
he said this
theres a microchip im sure he said similar to a 666 timer
that serves no purpose at all in the tv, even wen removed
it had either high or low resistance but did not upset the board

a few years ago i read it is possible to see you through the tv

Seriously though, this really comes as no surprise these days, and it is all kept afloat via the "T" word and all it's applications. Paying for coffee in cash, you might be a "T," loading your dishwasher with Nobama plates, you might be a "T," watching too many conspiracy docs, you might be a "T."

And people will just get up, go to work the daily grind, come home and do it all over again the next day. They don't care about their rights or privacy or the rise of the Police State as long as they can still watch their TV shows and play their video games.
