The birth certificate doesn't work and neither does social security cards neither one are picture id's which means there is no proof of who they are.

Glad you bring up the homeless since a lot of them are carrying around cell phones these days and most states still issue state ids right along with dirvers licence's.

A cop can ask a person for ID anytime, anywhere even walking failure to do so can and has resulted in arrest

Huge difference!!

National ID card = mandatory.
Voter ID card = voluntary. It is not required one votes.

People have a choice to vote or not. All this card does is prove that the person registered is actually casting the ballot.

Further, the information needed for the voter ID has already been voluntarily submitted when that person opted to become a registered voter.

$10 for a ID card????? More like $0.10 for an ID card. Anyways, we also need a national proposition system so we the people can deal with the social issues ourselves, and change the way congress operates.

Ya, but you know eventually more will be added to it. It will come in through seemingly good ideas.
voter ID
voter ID, and medical history
voter ID, medical history, sex predators
voter ID, medical history, felons
voter ID, med, felons, no fly list
etc etc etc...each step cheered until you are carrying around basically your entire history and tons of private info on you, and required to carry it.

I see the pros and cons of a national ID card. question is, is the inevitable corruption worth the short term gains...what would possibly stop it. Tomorrow will be a different witch hunt and people will be wanting to tag a new segment of people...how can you go against the will of the frightened flock called the average citizen?

I actually agree with you on this. It happened with SS and I'm against the National ID, but we do need to protect the voting rights of legal citizens and keep voter fraud down to a minimum. How well aware we are that Mickey Mouse voted in the last major election.

Illegals can still get IDs from their consulate, so yah the voter ID is necessary to filter those who really have a right to vote in our elections.
