Maybe he needs glasses?
Or maybe his wife really looked like a monkey...?
I guess they will take his gun from him now...

Aha,
This is why she was so keen on getting the mangos...

First mangoes go for $20,000

"A GREENGROCER today paid $20,000 for the first 12 mangoes of the season at an annual charity auction in Sydney.

Fred Pisciuneri, owner of Fred's Fruit Market in Edensor Park, was the winning bidder for the second year running, paying $17,000 less than he had done for last year's box."

Hmmmm. I don't know if charging him with manslaughter would be the best thing. I think the guy is going to be living with a heavy conscience for the rest of his life as it is.

Still...

Supt Mohamad Yusof reminded the public who were given permits to use guns to do so with caution.

And it doesn't seem like he took much caution, all he saw was a tree shaking.

However...

The last time I saw her was during National Day at a family gathering, she said, adding that her parents were a loving couple.

...which seems to support my original reasoning for not charging him.

Sad story no matter what.

This made me think of me of the book by Dr. Oliver Sacks....
The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat.
This Physiatrist has some really interesting books about the mind.

Why shoot a monkey? Am I missing something here?

It sounds like this man needs some serious mental help, or this is the worst excuse story ever.

Then that must've been a 'lucky' shot. Sounds to me this guy's done lost it. LOCK HIM UP!

I can't say that he meant to do it, though. If he didn't, then Ifeel for him.
I feel for the family's loss.

But aren't monkey's afraid of humans? Couldn't he have scared the monkey away?

Well, if the mangos are worth as much as indicated above, and he thought a monkey was taking them, guess I could see it. Of course, I don't understand why she didn't tell her husband she was going up a tree, or how he could shoot at "something" in a tree he didn't get a look at.

very odd indeed
