Hyperrealism (visual arts)
en.wikipedia.org...(visual_arts)

Hyperrealism is a genre of painting and sculpture resembling a high-resolution photograph. Hyperrealism is considered an advancement of Photorealism by the methods used to create the resulting paintings or sculptures. The term is primarily applied to an independent art movement and art style in the United States and Europe that has developed since the early 2000s.

I am always amazed when I see pieces like this at the annual Ann Arbor Art Fair.

You can only be amazed at that...I wonder what he's like with a UFO depiction

Anyone know of the street scene area, or country? I was trying to identify the white car, it looks a bit like a US Camry, except the back door looks like it belongs to a XJ6 jaguar and out of place.

You don't find that good of talent anywhere these days. These images just blow your mind away.

The car looks like a Chevy Impala to me. Not a Camry at all.

I almost shouted BS but then I followed the link. This guy is simply amazing. I can't draw a straight line with a ruler, really, my thumb always gets in the way and causes a bump.

You know what, I actually made pieces just as good as that. Seriously. I mean, sure, I used a camera, but hey, we all have our mediums. Potato / potauto.

Awesome work!

An Impala all day look at the badge on the rear pillar and hub cap looks like a picture someone would take with a camera. Awesome work did anyone else notice the skull or ghost looking face in the smoke of the guy on the right pretty cool.

I love how Art constantly reinvents and references itself and is always ready to flaunt convention.

In the beginning: Early man attempts to convey what he sees.

In the middle: Middle man attempts to visually interpret what he sees for emotional effect and eschews realism.

In the now: Hyperrealism isn't laughed at anymore and is impressive as heck.

Reminds me of Fashion...you think it's okay if I pull out my parachute pants now?

Amazing artwork and very welcome post. Thanks.

The very best oil painting I ever did was when I spent a few weeks carefully copying a photograph (from a magazine) onto a canvas. People who dont know, have said they thought it was in fact a photograph.

This guy does the same thing.
He takes photographs, and carefully copies them onto paper.
I'd be more impressed if this was freehand work, but it isnt. It is in fact just careful copying of photographs.

Absolutely amazing art in my opinion.
S&F for bringing this out into the arena.

If an artist were to draw like that 1000 years ago they probably would have accused the artist of being a witch and stealing the souls of the subjects...

Me to, but I think Chevy Malibu, not Impala.

wtf...

That guy's a cheater. There's no way that's possible. He hacked the matrix and downloaded hyperrealism into his skill set.

At the point where you are drawing true-to-life pictures of people.. I think it's like.. way easier to just snap a photo. Just saying..

I'd love to see that sort of realism drawn about things we don't see every day.

p.s. That -is- amazing skill, I can't even draw a decent stick-figure.
