“Obama Care to the Supreme Court in 10 Days”

In ten days, the United States Supreme Court will hear opening arguments concerning Obamas Health Care Law. Aka: Obamacare.

At the end of March, the justices are devoting five and a half hours of arguments to it. Most cases are argued for just an hour, but the weight of the case and its implications for federal power have earned it extra time, the Wall Street Journal reports. The arguments will run across three days starting March 26, with the central issue—the constitutionality of the individual mandate—set for day two.

On the first day, justices will hear arguments over whether the whole matter should be put on hold under a law that says taxpayers must pay a new levy before they can challenge it. The third day will examine which parts of the law can remain in place if the individual mandate is deemed unconstitutional. The only federal appeals court to rule against the mandate said the rest of the law held up. Opponents say that isn't the case; the government says the law can still work, but some requirements would need to change.

As an Independent, I’ve always tried hard to look at both sides of any argument. In this case though, I hold firm to Americans having the right to choose other than big Gov. stepping in to decide what is right and wrong for the American people. In my opinion, I find it unconstitutional for any tax payer to have to foot the bill for those who don’t have health care. And if I want health insurance? Well that’s my business. No one should be penalized for not having it.

More and more Americans are becoming dependent on our Gov. to keep themselves afloat. I think there are some situations where maybe the Gov. should step in to help those in need IE: Children who need a lifesaving surgery, etc.., but to assist everyone who doesn’t have health care? I think not. Many Americans are lazy, and this is another example of Americans taking and not giving back. When all is said and done, someone will have to pay for all of this. Who will that be?

As we go along in this thread, I would like to discuss more on the Jurors themselves. Who are they? What are their views? What are the implications to such a law? How has socialized health care worked in other countries?

All views are up for debate…

I'll skip to the end for you. The ruling will be 5 to 4 against ObamaCare.

You cannot mandate that Americans buy health insurance.

When ObamaCare disappears then the dark cloud will be removed from

Americas Fortune 500 corporations.

I want Obama Care to be overruled. It may not happen 5/4 in favor of Obama Care is my prediction. The Supreme Court has been bought out by big corporations. The only reason it will be close is to give the illusion to the people that they are not corrupt.

If the Supreme Court was fair, unbiased, and stuck to the Constitution it would be 9/0 against Obama Care.

ObamaCare is not socialism based health care. Socialism based healthcare already exists in the US, we all pay into Medicare and only a few actually get to use it. True Socialism based healthcare would destroy the healthcare industry so it would never fly in the US with our current system in place. I would support socialism based health care because health care for profit can never work effectively, people are too corrupt and it is evil to put a price on someones life threatening illness.

I have the feeling this is going to go down much like it did for the illegal immigration laws. They will find miscellaneous items constitutional and some unconstitutional. Either way at the end of the day, we will still have Obamacare.

Like I said, I think there should be certain instances where the Gov. should jump in on health care. Like providing care in life threatening emergencies for people who do not have insurance. But if you have a cold and have to go to the doctor, that money should come out of your own pocket. NOT MINE! Some use the analogy that if you are required to have care insurance, than you should be required to have health insurance. I have a friend who hasn’t had to go to the doctor in ten years. He eats right, and is keeps himself physically fit. Should he be required to have to pay? There’s too much Gov. in our lives already, and this is another form of control.

nnI am not so sure about this. Obama almost secured it stay with his latest appointments to the supreme court. (all in his pocket)

Has anyone considered this:

1) ObamaCare was destined for failure from the start.
And they knew it all along since it may seem so obvious
with the boondoggles already, and the legal questions.

2) Now, it gets shot down or it fails beyond repair early on.
Now, they are somehow "forced" to slowly incorporate
Medicare and Medicaid into more and more of the population.

2a) Lower the Medicare age year by year.
2b) Eliminate the Medicaid limits a few at a time.

The end result is Socialized Medicine in 10 years anyway.

Only as they keep adding new enrollees, perhaps the government
has the insurance companies underwrite some of the coverage anyway.
Hence, the government subsidizes the "policies".

Normal "as is" policies stay in place as long as people and employers can "afford" it.

I really do not see this as Socialized Healthcare as in other countries. Obamacare seems to be more of a Socialized Healthcare Insurance Plan.

We need to get the AMA and Big Pharma off the stranglehold over our healthcare, open up the doors to alternative treatments and care, make the licensing much more accessible to produce more doctors, maintain intense training for surgeons, and teach basic healthcare in public schools. Offset this with broader general medicinal information disclosure putting physicians in a more advisory capacity for personal informed consent for patients to select their own therapy and regimens. Make medications more widely available, and offer classes for self-prescribing controlled medicines.

The US must make great forward strides toward making healthcare affordable and accessible.
