The folksy accent thing is actually endearing to me. Most of my extended family has a midwestern accent..... you know like the mom on Bobby's World. That really doesn't bother me.

So she is a decent person with good intentions that has was surrounded by good advisers, doesn't mean she's smart. Could she replicate this in the oval office.... sure why not, but I wouldn't risk it.

Look at it this way.

Gov. Sarah Palin = Capitalist

President Obama = Anticapitalist

Obama wants to grow the economy by letting the government grow.

Gov. Sarah Palin wants the private sector to grow the economy.

A President Sarah Palin would lower the unemployment rate to less than 5%.

The resulting tidal wave of payroll taxes would wash away the huge deficit

with which we have had to contend with.

It's a simple reason why people think she is unintelligent. The media told us to think so. I actually bought into it myself because I was still not very informed about politics around the time of the 2008 campaign but I soon started to listen to the more right wing views and realized that they are simply more sensible. There isn't much point in debating it with liberals because they are operating from a place of emotion and not reason.

I'll cite an example of why Sarah Palin is intelligent and Obama is either unintelligent, or at least malicious towards our nation: Palin has taken on firm stance on illegal immigration saying that we need to secure our borders and actually enforce existing laws while citing the gang activity, crime, drug trafficking, kidnapping, etc in the border states. What is Obama's approach? He speaks of 'immigration reform' (read, get me more votes and appeal to latinos) and also let the Mexican President come to the White House and berate us while he stands idly next to him.

I'm sorry but this is pretty simple stuff. People like Obama also would like us to believe that government's role in the economy is very complicated and only ivory tower academics like himself can understand it but people like Palin know better. We can't spend what we don't have. We can't spend our way out of a recession.

Again, I'm not suggesting that Palin would practice what she preaches if she were in office but I have yet to be convinced that Obamas spend, spend, then spend some more while he tells us "I didn't say "change" will come tomorrow or next week...You're gonna have to wait" is a better alternative to her more conservative approach. Seriously, given another four years he is going to spend us into oblivion and his supporters will love him every minute of it.

She is NOT dumb but I do question the mental capacity of people who never bothered to do any research on her to find out the truth but instead rely on msnbc, Jon Stewart and Bill Maher.

I see what you are saying and get your point.... but I still have to disagree.

I'm not trying to say that Obama is a fantastic president.... IMO his biggest flaw is his ineffectiveness.

As far as Palin goes, I just don't see it.

But I appreciate being able to have a political discussion that hasn't devolved into simple mud slinging.. thanks for that guys. Debating differing opinions is great.... I just gets so ugly on ATS most of the time that I avoid it.

Admittedly, being lampooned by people like Tina Fey did not help her image as an intelligent being, I'll give you that. That did affect my early opinions of Ms. Palin, I openly admit it. However, since that time, I have not been impressed by her, if she was a intelligent person, given her good qualities, she would be an unstoppable force. There is a reason that she is not.

Also, I believe in economic crisis, government spending does need to increase. This is not because I'm a democrat or republican, in fact, I found both sides rather distasteful these days.... the reason for this belief is that I stand behind the economic theories put forth by John Maynard Keynes...no more, no less.

Problem is, she isn't smarter than a Fifth Grader.

Well...I was censored for my true opinion of this topic...so I will reel it in and say this basic truth...

Sarah does not have the worldly experience to participate in a POTUS level debate. She knows it is not going to be accepted so it is easy to rail and rant and pretend like you are a serious challenger.

The POTUS has too much real work to do to answer these empty challenges.

I know she was thnking what a great line to take into a "brokered" convention..."The POTUS is afraid to debate me"...and maybe to some uneducated eveangelical conservatives...it might sound good...but that is not the case.

John McCain lost because of her...and we all know this...she is not a threat, she is a nuisance.

She may be a very-very nice lady and might have raised a typical american family...from the outside looking in...yes it's the same crap we all have to deal with...

This however does not make her worthy of a POTUS run.

I made some harsh comments yesterday and...unlike Rush and Bill Maher...I didn't call her names...I believe I compared her intellect to potatoes.and was smacked down for it....

I don't hate this lady...I don't even really dislike her...she is pretty and she seems nice...but she is not POTUS level material...I suppose we sometimes go overboard trying to make a point. I hope she does well...I hope her children and grandchildren do well...I wish no ill will on this lady...I just wish she would stop stirring crap when most of the time...there is not that much crap to stir...it's inflated and/or imagined...

and there is something to be said for those who oppose socialist policies into our government. I don't have a problem with socialism in theory. In fact, many of our allies are democratic socialist nations. The problem I have is that we live in a mixed capitalist society. This weird capitalist/socialist hybrid thing we have doesn't work. We need to go for pure capitalism or pure socialism. I'm not espousing socialism, but choosing either would work better than a muddled mix of the two.

That's not exactly true....

"Former" Governor Palin...can do whatever makes her boat float....she is and never will be POTUS level product...she really doesn't even qualify as "VP goods....

She appears to be a nice lady that had to draw hard lines...which most of us don't...we live...and that is all...sometimes...we have to be right wing...sometimes left wing...to say you are always one or another implies someone in your neighborhood is suffering because of you....enjoy that....money bag man.....you are not making things better....

If you expect me to believe that this lady...Mrs. Sarah Palin is ok with people dieing from starvation within the continental United States is OK...I will call you a liar....she is a lady...and she is a mother....and I have a real hard time thinking she would be ok with anyone dieing for profit....no matter what she says on television.....

President Obama is not POTUS level material. He is in way over his head.

He spends most of his time out on the golf course.

His foreign and domestic policies are a disaster.

He has a record now and it's not good.

His 2 Achilles heels are there for everyone to see.

I don't think i have ever gone to BTS. ATS works just fine. Why switch?
