Glenn Beck gave Canada a warning about George Soros moving to Canada

to cause trouble up there. The remark by Smitty 1007 was even more revealing.

Seek the truth.

I know someone who blindly follows Glenn Beck and she thinks Soros is the reason the world is in such peril
. They claim Soros is a communist who is behind all the OWS movements and is planning on destroying the country, or some non sense

OWS originated from a Canadian group that is funded by George Soros.

Bad news: OWS failed.

Instead of one large army, George Soros has dozens of small organizations

that appear to operate independently. They don't.

Reminds me of all the ATS members who blindly follow the Democrat media and go on and on about how dangerous Santorum, Gingrich, Romney and just about any Republican is to the country. I believe Chris Matthews called the GOP, "like suicide bombers".

First off OWS has not failed, unless you have no belief in any further protests in north america you ought to realize they are regrouping over the winter... i heard somewhere "the greatest revolutions come after a cold winter of discontent"

also i've been to my local OWS movement and in my city it is still strong, housed and unfunded by anything or anyone other than the individuals who still also work for themselves (or at least half of them do, the other are career protesters now)

they are fairly independent from eachother but with a united purpose, but from my understanding from talking to the protesters in my city they have no official affiliation with any other city or towns OWS movement

im tired of people saying the OWS movement is dead... thats like saying the resistance to the establishment is over

sure the media is no longer on our side (and hasnt been in a long time) but even if OWS protests arnt in full operation the individuals who fought and protested are not just going to go away... unless they all get 'disappeared' anyways

I don't buy it either.
I thought Canada was protesting in solidarity with our neighbours to the south, we don't have the same amount of oppression here - yet.
Wasn't the first protest in New York?

Yup, OWS began in NYC where Wallstreet is. I recall Anon talking about protesting Wallstreet before OWS was a twinkle in anyones eye.

OWS has failed all over America.

OWS in NYC was bad but Oakland was/is a disaster.

Even the liberal mayor of Oakland turned on OWS. Socialists Gone Wild !

They are a disgrace.

That's what I thought. If it started here, it would have been called something completely different. We don't have a Wall Street. I think our financial district is Bay Street.

Don't you Canadians know how to use Wikipedia?

OWS was started by a Canadian activist group called Adbusters.

Wake up!

It's just a huge coincidence that you guys are constantly parroting their narratives, talking points and boogymen. Also, there is a reason the MSM supported and promoted OWS, while attacking and smearing the tea party.

Wikipedia is always a great start to learn about something, but it is Wikipedia. That said, it does appears you are right that the Candian based group Adbusters began the idea of OWS, even making a website, but they are not the only ones who started the movement and its absolutely foolish to give them all the credit.

. OWS was initiated by the Canadian activist group Adbusters and has led to Occupy protests and movements around the world.

Occupy Wall Street has roots in the British student protests of 2010, Greece's and Spain's anti-austerity protests of the "indignados" (indignants), as well as the Arab Spring protests.[6] But the more immediate series of events which lead to the protest started with email conversations between Kalle Lasn, founder of the Canadian-based Adbusters Media Foundation and Micah White, Adbuster's senior editor.[7] The two had the idea for an occupation of lower Manhattan in early June 2011. Lasn registered the OccupyWallSteet.org web address on June 9th.[7] Early in June, Adbusters sent its subscribers an email saying that “America needs its own Tahrir,” and according to Micah White the idea "was spontaneously taken up by all the people of the world.”[8][7] In a blog post on July 13 of 2011[9

he internet group Anonymous encouraged its readers to take part in the protests.[15] Other groups began joining to assist in organization, including the U.S. Day of Rage,[16] and the NYC General Assembly.[17]

That said, as far as the Soros connection to Adbusters, it looks very weak so far.

Adbusters responds to Reuters's Soros report

www.politico.com...

After Rush Limbaugh declared last week that “George Soros money is behind” the Occupy Wall Street protests, Reuters gave proving that the old college try – but came up pretty short.

Reporters Mark Egan and Michelle Nichols did find that the Tides Center, which often acts as a clearinghouse for the donations that flow into left-leaning institutions, gave Adbusters, the Canadian magazine that put out the original call for the protests, grants of $185,000 from 2001 – 2010, including $26,000 between 2007 – 2009.

But they never proved where that money came from originally. They did insinuate, however, that it might have come from Soros’s Open Society Institute, since Open Society gave $3.5 million to Tides between 2007 and 2009.

The problem is, lots of other foundations give money to Tides, too, including the Ford and Gates Foundations.

So where did the money that went from Tides to Adbusters come from originally?

According to Lauren Bercovich, a production manager at Adbusters who has been handling media, it’s mainly individual donations, which go through Tides because Adbusters is a Canadian nonprofit and can’t give the tax receipts American donors need.

“We just use them as a conduit so people can do tax receipts,” she said. “In the last four years, there have been no major donations from foundations. It’s mainly individuals.”

Soros’s aides told Reuters that he’s never even heard of Adbusters, and Adbusters’ editor, Kalle Lasn, told them that Adbusters has never received a penny from Soros. So what was the story, exactly?

“We were surprised that Reuters would run something like that,” Bercovich said.

UPDATE: After the story was pilloried by just about everyone with access to a blogging tool -- including Reuters' own Felix Salmon -- Reuters has recast the story with a new lede and new headline: "Soros: not a funder of Wall Street protests."

Adbusters are Anti-capitalists.

Wall Street NYC is ground zero for them.

I have bad news for them. Capitalism is alive and well in the USA.
