Cheney says Canada ‘too dangerous’ for visit

The Raw Story

Former Vice President Dick Cheney has foregone a trip to Canada on the grounds that it’s “too dangerous,” according to a report in Canada’s National Post.

Cheney was set to appear at an event in Toronto on April 24, but canceled on grounds that the risk of trouble from protesters was too great.

Cheney’s last Canadian appearance in September of 2011 erupted in violence as protesters swarmed the entrance of the private Vancouver club where the former Bush administration official and Iraq War architect was speaking. The protesters rained down verbal abuse on attendees and, in once instance, choked a security guard.

Vice President Cheney was trapped inside the venue for more than seven hours as police in riot gear attempted to disperse the crowd and quell to the resulting melee.

Oh Canada !

Cheney must be a paranoid schizophrenic !

Looks like he got the message we were sending...and that is, he is not welcome in Canada...

Go peddle your crap elsewhere.

ETA: Here's a radical idea for Cheney...do the right thing and you'll never have to be afraid.

Oh, and BTW...Peace.

Well done Canada. You scared him away. Seriously though pissing off Canadians is pretty difficult. You have to try to make them angry. Cheney is good at that. I am not. Every Canadian I have met has been at least a decent human being.

Edit to add - This story only adds to the idea that Canada is on the right track.

Cheney doesn't say anything without a purpose behind it.

Need to figure out what that purpose is.

Seriously doubt its because he's afraid for his safety.

Apparently this decision was based on issues that arouse after protesting sprung up when he did a private appearance in Vancouver.

Thus he has cancelled a scheduled appearance in Toronto. It is a small but satisfying outcome for a city that by most accounts is quite Liberal leaning but is currently dealing with a failing conservative mayor.

This second point may have been one of the deciding factors as the atmosphere towards this type of political idealogy is especially agitated at this time in Toronto.

Yup, probably wants Canada to start losing rights like free speech as well. Maybe just the beginning of him and Harper cracking the whip together?

Might as well have an entire Continent subdued.

Or maybe he really is just a coward.

Peace

Canada is too dangerous to visit for for sadistic torturers. I spent a year in Canada and the people were amazingly nice. HOWEVER, they were too in love with Obama. Their culture is way more socialist than ours. It appears they don't get it how Obama is worse than Cheney.

I may be the only person on ATS who has shaken Dick Cheney's hand. It was at McChord AFB in Washington. Commanders got told to round up airmen to fill the chow hall for the Veeps's visit, as he was going to do a lunch with the troops before giving a base wide speech.

I remember it clearly. I was at my desk when one of the the Commander's aids walked in and asked to see my boots. I presented them proudly, having just finished getting one of the Fort Louis B/X guys to really give them a buff. The Captain eyed my boots and sarcastically took my hand "Congratulations, you're having lunch with Dick Cheney, show up at the Chow hall at 11:30 and go iron your uniform right now."

"What?!?!!?" I responded and rushed home to primp and get into presentation order. it was a rather crazy affair, I showed up and Secret Service patted me down, checked my name against a roster and wanded me for metals. Of course the damn wand went off all over, my belt had metal, my boots. I had keys and all sorts of stuff. But they let me through and I was honestly underwhelmed at the security. It was a crowded but not full chow hall with maybe about 75 Enlisted personnel and officers. I got into line and noticed the Veep about 25 people ahead of me. He ordered Beef Stroganoff and I cringed. Air Force chow hall's are indeed cuisine food but I wanted to walk up and suggest something else instead. "Mr. Cheney, come with me and lets get you a hamburger instead. Trust me, sir." But I didn't.

Then I sat down with two friends I recognized and we sat in an area about 35 feet from the veep and proceeded to make off-color and reckless jokes from nervousness while keeping our voices down. Eventually the Veep got up, walked around the room shaking every hand. When he got to me I slapped our Squadron coin into his hand and shook it. He took the coin and dropped it into his pocket with a loud clink. I realized then that the poor guys pocket was FULL of coins and wondered how many Airmen had done the same. How many soldiers at how many bases? He must have one of the largest collection of Squadron, base and unit coins in the world.

If I only knew then what I know regarding the wars, the lies, guaranteed I would have had an altogether different reaction.

This fear of traveling to frigging Canada, of all places is just a sign that the Powers That Were are losing control. They're running scared at this point. I could not then have imagined Dick Cheney ever not doing exactly what he wanted, and I could never have dreamed of a day when they would announce that American leaders are afraid to travel to Canada.

2012 is really shaping up to be exciting times.

I'm Canadian, own a store and talk to many people every day. I've found that 1 in 10 might like Obama and that's only because like many Americans, they are not informed. I met a woman the other day that said she liked Obama because he was for the lower class and not the rich.

That told me that she hasn't seen any real news in 4 years. So yes, uninformed.

Your time in Canada was most likely in Obama's first year or so when Americans were still having a love affair with him.

And Socialist? Can't even begin to express what is wrong with this statement.

Peace

The only purpose is a message to the government that it is time to tighten the police state crackdown like they did in the good ole US of A. Personally I could not care less if the Old derelict of a War Monger ever comes to Canada. Good Riddance!

Amazing. From what I have heard and seen from various sources, including friends, Canada is a great country and beautiful land. I hope to visit one day. I met 2 dudes from there and they were by far the most pleasant people to be around, for a week anyway. Maybe Cheney gets the message, and anyone like him. Warmongerers are not welcome, too bad the US lets people like Cheney get away with the crap they do. Go Canucks!

I await the day the SOB is getting chased down the street in front of a justice hungry public.
Canada will never be a safe heaven to war mongering murderous scum like that....
You do realise this has to be one of the 9/11 masterminds dont you?
If anyone was in on it....Minettas testimony nails CHENEYS ASS.......
.......one of the grand conductors of that day....There are few, who had as much say.....
We are talking war crimes.....treason ....mass murder....conspiracy to overthrow the goverment.....and much more.....
If anyone deserves a full investigation, this mans life should be turned inside out under a microscope.,

Dick Cheney. Rabbi Dov Zackhiem,And others who have escaped scrutiny,i will not mention.....on this thread.
These two particularly need exposure.

Is there not an Interpol arrest warrant for dick cheney ?
Last I heard Nigeria wanted him for bribes.
As for dick saying that Canada is too dangerous,
does that mean he wants to bomb Canada now too ?
(wouldn't put it passed the schizophrenic, that he is)

Please leave.

Thanks in advance.

He should be concerned for his soul...when the time comes that he answers to the Almighty Creator he will be damn afraid.
