Thousands of US fishermen to benefit from $7.8bn BP payout deal www.fishupdate.com...$7.8bn_BP_payout_deal.html
Published: 05 March, 2012

TENS of thousands of United States fishermen are to benefit for a near £5-billion settlement offer from oil giant BP following the Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster in 2010.

BP confirmed at the weekend that it had reached a $7.8 billion (£4.9bn) deal with the largest group of plaintiffs suing the company, numbering over 100,000 which are thought to be mostly fishermen and small fishing companies. It will benefit the many fishermen, local residents and clean-up workers whose livelihoods or health suffered. The company has not admitted liability and still faces further claims from the US and those state governments, whose shores are on the Gulf of Mexico.

thanks
it was funny wat somebody tripped over a few billion

but seriously
i doubt that any fisherman gets the same as he would make fishing
and any company that has that kinda money laying around well i dont think they are doing honest buisness
i saw an interviuw a few dauys ago about the spill
they asked a local woman ,when did she think things would be back to normal
she started crying b4 she could reply

i dont think things will ever be back to normal
sad..

Fishing is a cash business down there.
The fishermen don't keep records and don't pay income taxes. Or they claim far less. It's just the way they have been doing it for decades. If they had kept records and paid taxes BP would have paid them more.

So in a sense they are getting what they deserve.

I think they are accepting what they can get without drawing the attention of the IRS and local governments.
Lest a full investigation gets started.

The real conspiracy out of this is why the IRS has let this go on all this time.
