Are "Whites" an Ethnicity -- or in a convenient non-ethnic 'class' of their own?

Something like race cannot be a social construct since society itself is a racial construct.Hence the different cultures we have based on race.

The Nazis understood ethnicity better then most people here and yes,Hitler welcomed many of those from the East especially from Japan and India.

The main ones who call themselves white(white,European Caucasians)are indeed a seperate race to everyone else.

I never said race was a social construct, I said the 'white race' is a social construct. Europeans are part of a genetically identifiable human group (or race) that we refer to as Caucasians. They share the same immediate genetic relation to that of the Iranians, northern Africans, Pakistanis, northern indians. Scientists have identified five groups within human kind, Africanoid, Australoid, Mongoloid (asiatic), Amerindian (north and south) and Caucasians. Most scientists nowadays dispute the idea there being any races within human kind as genetic differences even between humans are insignificant, but they don't dispute the physical differences, who does?

A human race is defined as a group of people with certain common inherited features that distinguish them from other groups of people. All men of whatever race are currently classified by the anthropologist or biologist as belonging to the one species, Homo sapiens.This is another way of saying that the differences between human races are not great, even though they may appear so, i.e. black vs white skin. All races of mankind in the world can interbreed because they have so much in common. All races share 99.99+% of the same genetic materials which means that division of race is largely subjective, and that the original 3-5 races were also probably just subjective descriptions as well.

But if we want to talk about what 'race' an Irishman or a 'German' would belong to, they share the same group with that Punjabi man from india.

Hitler and the Nazis were not necessarily 'tolerant' of Japanese racially. They referred to the Japanese as honory aryans, but this was just a title officials gave them as the Japanese were considered their most important ally. I don't think the Nazis would be all to pleased to allow masses of Japanese and indian folks coming through to their lands in the 30's, heck the Nazis even treated the Slav peoples, genetically of very little difference' to them, as a completely different race. The Nazis were tolerant when it suited their agenda.
