I can't pretend to speak for all males by any means. I for one would not take no male birth control, I will stick to rubbers. There is already so many things that are lowering sperm count etc, no thanks. Its like a vasectimy(sorry spelling), they say it is reversible, the few males I knew that got one, and tried to get it reversed failed. They could not have kids. No thanks, right now I want no kids, I am raising two nieces as my own as a single parent. Maybe the world will take a turn for the better one day and I will want to have kids. That is why I choose to keep my testicles intact.

I would say 12ish and older, that's when the hormones really start to kick in. I doubt a twelve year old has any intentions of having children, though I know there are crazy teens out there who want to be moms.

So you believe 12 year olds are old enough to take on the responsibility of parenthood?

That is the response I always get from men when I mention Male birth control.

The woman has to take on the responsibility of birth control. And almost always is blamed if she gets pregnant.

Rubbers? I have a grandchild from a broken rubber.

Someone in another thread suggested all males should have a Vasectomy at birth - - - and only have it reversed when they are ready for children.

I am not sure what is up with broken rubbers. Do people not know how to put them on properly? I am 30 years old, been having sex since I was 12, not once has a rubber broke on me. I guess it is possible I am super lucky, but that is a lot of sex, and I have no super luck in any other area.

You would be OK if women got their tubes ties at birth as well? I think deciding such things for children is a horrible idea. I am also against circumcision performed on babies. Should they not have a say on their own bodies?

I'd say you are very lucky and careful.

I can't say I don't try to be! I don't want to be a father until I am ready, as a person, and financially. Getting a girl pregnant too early was always one of my fears. That could have something to do with it I suppose. Sorry for the quicdk edit, I don't want to derail the topic too much, although it is really related.

Yah, I am not going to read through another 3 pages before I vent.. Even if they do finally get a child support order established, they still don't have to pay. They will get warning after warning, and then if the state is on there toes maybe his DL will be suspended.

This can go on and on.. my sister fought for 5 years to get her child support, and guess what... NEVER RECIEVED A DIME! It finally reached almost 30k (and that was just owed for their eldest), and she finally said sign over your visitation rights (even though he never saw her and was physically, mentally, and sexually abusive) and I will waive what you owe. He didn't hesitate.

The other thing is, to the fathers benefit and depending on the state, the more kids you have the less support you pay. My sis's ex husband is expecting his 5th kid, and if she was still receiving support (yah, big if) if would have been dropped to $40 a month. WTF would she have done with $40 and 2 kids, working 40hrs a week @ 8hr, recieving $200 assistance, and pay rent, utilities, childcare (I ended up doing it), GASOLINE, diapers, TOILET PAPER and I could on! I know many would say get hud, well, here in FL it is a 1yr wait list, and then only like 2 or 3 people a county well get it, and guess what those 2 or 3 people don't speak english, GET IT!..

The system is broken, and the fathers are being handed a knock-her-up get out of support free card.

Not to sound like a total jerk, but why would you have kids if you couldn't support them on your own?

My nieces were going to go into the child services system, and I decided to take them instead. That was a rude awakening really, and thank god they were old enough to be of the age of reason. Didn't have to deal with diapers and such, I would have not been able to afford it.

Point is, I would not even consider having kids, unless both me and the woman could both afford them on our own, should things go sour. Too much of a gamble to think any other way.

How is it not her fault? Women are supposed to be the smart ones right? Look, they have the prize between the thighs, it's theirs, no one else's, maybe they should be more conscience of a man not being the one who gets knocked up and getting the drunken one-nighter's last name. Face it, no one wants to be responsible for their actions, hence the lack of believers in God, and those people keep crying when others want laws to protect them from being wrongly accused. False witness. Making a human think he created another human when he did not is a moral crime and he deserves to have a law that protects him from such a horrific lie.

My sister was married, and he made good money so she was a stay at home mom... so they could afford to have kids. He chose to cheat, drink and smoke all their money away. She didn't plan on him being a deadbeat dad, or a total a**hole, cheat on her, beat on her, and all the other things I won't mention.. Like I said before.. system broken

Now she has an education (family took care of kids and supported her so she could) and now supports herself.

My daughter is one of those women who could probably get pregnant just looking at her from across the room. OK - that is an exaggeration - - - but I'm the same way. If it wasn't for birth control - - I'd either be like the Duggars or have a very pissed off hubby.

So I found some real statistics for you.

Rates of condom breakage during sexual intercourse and withdrawal are approximately two broken condoms per 100 condoms used in the United States. The failure of condoms to protect against STD transmission or unintended pregnancy usually results from inconsistent or incorrect use rather than condom breakage. www.cdc.gov...

What Santorum proposes isn't my problem with him. Its the kind of twisted "core" of where his perspectives come from.

You lost me at God and the word moral. Ever since Bush - - the word Moral has been so overused and abused - - - it has no value left. It is a word I refuse to use. I will only use Ethics or Ethical.

I'm getting a vision of "Woman on a Pedestal" - - with a plaque that says "Sanctity of the Vessel".

That sucks, it really does. I am sorry people are such jerks. I have met women that are jerks, and use the system to their advantage as well. Most guys I associate with are all good guys. That might be why I seem so biased sometimes. I have seen way more guys dragged through fields of broken glass by the system.

I have seen a guy bullied by the system, until he killed himself. He was no perfect guy, he was my nieces father(at least the older one, not sure about the youner one).

Most my life experiences were biased, women using the system to beat down men. That might explain why I may seem a bit biased at times, and even a bit defensive.

As much as I love women, I can only relate to being a man.

This is already the law in some places - Texas I know of for sure.

The thinking behind it is - the state doesn't want to give you money if you might be able to get child support instead. It has nothing to do with Santorum's arguments, which are idiotic.

Most girls I know on the pill, are on the pill not so much for the birth control aspect, but to help tone down the hormone changes. The only male equivilant to hormone control I know of males taking is stuff like viagra. That scares me really. I have never heard of a pill that guys need to take that heals the problem of being hard too much.

Interesting.

I was on it to not get pregnant. Hormone control never occurred to me.

My older daughter though - - does have a condition that for medical reasons is on the pill. Can't remember what it is called.

not trying to be rude but sounds like she married so she wouldnt have to work
shes her own person its not anybody elses responsibility to take care of her
it is foolish to ever become that dependent upon anyone else
and it most definitely was a choice she liked the idea of being a stay at home mom in the modern era (and why not it would be the best of both worlds)
....and it sounds like they were very incompatible so it really does make you think

i do not feel sorry for your sister
the welfare money should have been collected anyway and put in a fund for people who fell into a bad situation due to circumstance (if it ever came to the point she couldnt take care of them they should be provided for by the state but the mother should not be given any actual money to handle herself)

that said the system is broken and needs reformation and the people most in need are the least likely to receive assistance

WOW, married so she wouldn't have to work? They met in middle school, and married at graduation.. Her plan was to go into the military and pursue that career, but after they were married he wouldn't allow it... He would not allow her to work, and beat her if she pressured him about it.. She didn't ask or expect help, we offered, as a good family would.

A little FYI, she was on the pill and didn't want kids until her career was established. Things happen, why should the woman and children suffer for it.

You live in a world of delusion, You need to to pop this little bubble your in, and wake up to the real world. It is not as easy as you think especially in an abusive situation
