Yes because we can and because somebody needs to stop these terrorists from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Would you be comfortable knowing Iran could strike the U.S. with a nuke?

You're labeling a country "terrorists" when you most likely don't know anything about Iran other than what the media is telling you. I would be perfectly fine if they had a nuke because it would most likely be used as a last resort weapon in self defense. We have nukes but you don't see us going around dropping them on everyone so what makes you think Iran would?

Who's to say they don't already have the requested weapons? Looks like propaganda in supporting an attack using US weapons. This report also gives Israel the "We have the support of the United State of American" speach when the attacks start.

My money is on Israel already having the weapons and now it's just time for them to use them on Iran.

What? Now that isn't very nice.

Just because I have a different opinion you don't need to call me names.

Iran is going down and any other country who pisses us off will join. Are you listening N. Korea?

Something just popped up in my head.... I seem to remember seeing a report a year or maybe more ago, stating that the US was transferring / stockpiling arms in Israel, which included the "bunker buster" munitions. So, if I remember correctly - I'll go search soon - then it means the weapons are already in Israel, just waiting to be handed over.

Israel has the most advanced world army (when you count modern tech per soldier).
They have worlds 5th airforce (with large amount of modernized fighters). And nr 10 military as a whole.
Quite effective missile defence (Hamas and Hesbollah missiles are something different since they fire from a few km distance from civilian locations so are hard to stop).
Shelters all over - even in houses. Ppl are prepared and armed. They suffered from attacks for years.
Mandatory military training (female too). They are ready to mobilize at will and if neccessary all able 18+ can serve and have at least basic combat training and experience since its years of wars, terrorist actions etc.
Israel is basically in a permament state of war since its creation.

They have proven themselfes great strategists and fighters even when at war with all their neighbours (and uprising) at once, smashing enemy forces when technological differences were not as big as now.

Here's a bit of info I found after a short search, from March 2010.

matzav.com...

On March 13, debkafile disclosed that the Obama administration was pondering withholding from Israel military hardware that could be used for an Israeli attack on Iran. In late February, we reported that defense minister Ehud Barak had submitted to defense secretary Robert Gates a list of the items Israel required urgently to stand up to a four-front assault by Iran and its allies - mainly air force ordnance, certain types of missile and advanced electronic devices. Barak made it clear that all these items must be present in Israel before the outbreak of hostilities. The requests were so urgent that the minister proposed that if Washington was reluctant to hand them directly to Israel, they could be stored for the interim in the big American emergency depots in Israel’s Negev.

I have not seen any definitive report of these weapons being diverted to Diego Garcia or whether they did indeed go into a US storage facility in the Negev desert. Either way, it shows once again that this imminent threat to Israel is fiction as here we are, another full two years down the line and Arab / Persian hordeshave still not wiped them off the map!

...and yet, they got their arses kicked in the little Lebanese incursion in 2006. They are not so good when it comes to fighting people who shoot back or are prepared for them.

I don't see why they "need" to comply. The United States has more Nukes than any other country and we go around telling people that they can't have them? If they want to use it for a power source then who cares? If they want to build a bomb with it, who cares? Just because they have the weapon doesn't mean they are going to use it.

but we are a responsible, civilized and a democracy and would not do any bad thing.

the iranians are evil.

hell bent on destroying us.they have spoken it openly.

they hate our western values.

they value death and their 72 virgin orgy in heaven cos their illiterate oppressed wives from the village are so frigid in bed.

this is the main problem mosloms suffer from. they are sexually VERY frustrated...
so many arab sheiks come to the west to get prostitutes who will service them properly.

hence the obsession with the 72 virgin orgy in paradise for people who can't afford western prostitutes.

maybe we should send them thousands of sex counselors and liberating porn to their ignorant women to straighten them out from their frigidity.

i hear they don't even do mouth to mouth kissing let alone anything else.

anyone want to challenge me on this?

They already have the bunker busters, under Bush Administration + I made a thread few days ago saying the plan for striking Iran involves US providing air refueling assistance.

nope
they already have bad reputation - it could end different but the world cried aloud
thats the problem - civilian deaths
if you need to shoot the enemy hiding behind schoolchildren wouldnt you think twice before pulling a trigger?
it wasnt full scale war - it was an attack on their bases and logistics

and it was an attack on Hesbollah and wasnt aimed at Lebanon as a state (and fighting with regulars were rare - there was no war with Lebanon)

I dont agree with the statement the Israel was defeated - its an anti jew propaganda
read more - they accomplieshed many goals and withdrew due to international mediations
few tanks out and some tens of soldiers died but thats war - even US are getting killed by some sheep herders in Afghanistan (or irregulars in Iraq etc)
maybe read some more bout the whole thing

Iran would only need to target Dimona and any other nuclear power stations and any radiation leak in such a small state could be devastating.....Could Israel defend a thousand missiles at once raining down on Dimona ?

Israel's size could be its Achilles heel.

We've been supplying Israel with weapons, both physical (planes, guns, bombs, etc.) as well as non-physical (computer viruses, intel reports, satilite imagery, etc.) since pretty much it's founding. Why is this so stunning that we'd assit in the means of ending a nation's nuke program when their leader has already stated the first thing he'll do with it is blow Israel off the map. And then, America, and the UK and anyone else he's in a twist about. Common enemy = military alliances. That song is as old as the first time cave men argued over hunting grounds.

Actually, the reason behind Iran being so protective and defensive is exactly because they have complied in the past. They signed the NPT, and it wasn't enough. They allowed IAEA surveys and inspections, and it wasn't enough. They claimed time and time again that they would comply, and even when they said that, it wasn't enough.

They went as far as to disclose internal military technology and information (that they weren't forced to under the NPT) and give access to sensitive facilities, just to gain a right that any western country has without question.

Yet, once again, this wasn't enough.

The rhetoric against Iran has speeded up a bit, based on truth or not, in the last few months. But this has been going on for years, and yet, Iran hasn't made an aggressive move in all that time, although they are constantly attacked by rhetoric, and were even invaded by Iraq when they still were a US friend.

The matter of fact, is that it's the US irresponsible actions, aided with their allies support, plus the futility in Israel's comments, that is making this whole situation a possible huge mess that could backfire to the whole world.

If the US hadn't gone all "imperialistic" around the world, building bases wherever it wants to, this situation would provably not even exist. Israel would be forced to step down the rhetoric and go in force with diplomatic measures, otherwise they would get kicked in the male area.

But no... The US had to start 2 wars over nothing, kill thousands in the process, feeding hatred in the whole region, and then be hypocritical as to point fingers at Iran, when the US itself is responsible for providing nuclear weapons to countries in a unstable area. If people are going to use the argument "but Israel needs nuclear weapons as a deterrent", then people also need to grow a pair and admit that the same argument works for Iran.

Iran isn't, by any stretch of imagination, a more serious threat than North Korea, India, Pakistan, Russia, or whatever other country that has nukes.

If countries had taken steps into making peaceful resolutions instead of putting weaker countries into a corner, we wouldn't have to worry about possible counter-attacks.

People are effectively tired of US/NATO/EU/UN policies. People are angry at the suffering that is brought upon these regions, forcing them to accept the fact that they either turn pro-west and sacrifice their culture (and looking at the record of dictators that are friends with the US) and even their freedom, or refuse the pro-west crap that cripples economies and be bombed to high heavens.

Most people don't even understand that many regional wars are based upon tribal wars, because they were forced to live in the same "nation", although some were fierce enemies. Those nations were "made-up" by Europe for instance, after colonial dispersal. We were the ones responsible for putting 2 fighting cats in the same bag, and we force them to live together, and yet, expect peace.

Then we dropped a cat named Israel, and expected that nothing wrong would happen.

Iran can be a demon (which I think is not), the anti-christ and all that crap. But they are only a danger because we are kicking it and poking it. Iran and the whole region, for decades, centuries even. Provably if we left them alone, they would even develop their own nuclear weapons, do whatever they want to them besides using them, and everything would be fine and balanced.

But no... The West has to kick the door down, work around that area like they have a right to fly and bomb who and whatever they feel the need to, and people are still surprised why so many people in the Middle East burn flags of NATO and the US.
