Whats an "Phage-off"?

They say it will cause hairy palms and make you go blind

On topic - Hopefully this won't come true. After the tornadoes and with the storm season just getting started, we don't need anymore disasters.

I don't understand why people feel the urge to argue about predictions. I guess it's a haven for proffesional debunkers and the "YOU SHALL NOT PASS" crowd.

Should people just accept predictions?....not question them?

I'm not a "professional debunker"......but I'm going to go ahead and debunk your prediction.

No major earthquake within the next 30+ hours, there will be a multitude of minor ones, but no major one.

And I didn't even start a thread to claim it.

As far as I've seen you based your research between the years of 1973-2008. Any updates to that? I'd be highly interested.

And your prediction is based upon what?
The Japan quake? What about all the other +8 EQ?

More recent data.
What about beginning of august 2011?
Kp reached up to 8.
These are the 5+ earthquakes from that list
+6 max EQ

Or

Late september 2011 kp 9
EQ list
max 5.6 EQ
search the data for yourself
earthquake.usgs.gov...
www.solen.info...
en.wikipedia.org...

Of course there is a chance a +9 quake happens tomorrow, but so was yesterday and next month

The fact is we don't know. There may be something to this.
Its not a hit you in the face correlation
but there might be an actual effect.
Keep in mind, I doubt time as conceived by humans
is as immediate as Earths. Meaning if a X5 hits Earth
and a day later a large earthquake strikes maybe that's a quick
response for whatever processes are at work.

I hope it's not in Vegas. I've got NASCAR tickets. I say it will be in someplace that begins with the letter I.

in California, never have I remembered such a duration of time with no activity

Didn't they just have a 4 earthquake there a few weeks ago?

I think it'll be in the Vanuatu region.

That place loves big earthquakes so IMO if it happens, there'd be a higher chance of it happening there. Luckily nothing big comes of earthquakes there as it's relatively in the middle of nowhere.

IF (and this is a big IF) there is a correlation between solar activity and earthquakes, I must make the following qualifying statements:

If the correlation exists, does that mean all earthquakes are caused by solar flares? No.
If the correlation exists, does that mean all solar flares cause earthquakes? No.
These cannot be mutually inclusive. We already have evidence that supports that.

If the correlation exists, does that mean the earthquake is caused at the moment the CME hits the magnetosphere? No. Again, we already have evidence contrary.

If the correlation exists, does that mean the entire dynamic consists of only the Earth and the Sun and nothing else, as if they were in a vacuum? No. It would be silly to exclude other factors when dealing with such large amounts of energy and mass.

If any of the statements above were "Yes." then the whole correlation would be trivial and science would have a solid understanding of this phenomenon and it would be common knowledge. Therefore, if the correlation exists, the answer to each of the above statements MUST be "No" because the correlation must be intricate, subtle and complex. Does "intricate, subtle and complex" mean it cannot be? No. We just do not have the right data.

So (and I am not a physicist nor a geologist but I am a scientist) one could make a valid hypothesis along the lines of "when the moon is at x position or phase relative to the Earth and Sun, and a CME is incoming in rapid succession after a strong solar wind or precursor CME, and the magnetosphere is in a certain state of flux, this causes a charge to ground at the poles leading to a disturbance at the Earth's core which ripples outward toward the crust which may dislodge or aggravate a fault that is already under duress."

Sadly, I do not have enough data to build such a hypothesis so instead, someone like me would just observe what I can and look for patterns that may help isolate the correlation (if one exists) so a valid hypothesis may be built.

After saying all of that, I am interested in what the OP has to say because if the OP is right then that would support some anecdotal evidence and patterns that I have been observing for quite some time. This is also why people that scream "XYZ WILL HAPPEN ZOMG!" and the ones that refute "THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE IT IS NOT IN SCIENCE BOOKS" are both silly.

Cannot we just open our minds and enjoy the art of observation?

as i recall, there was a 7 off shore honshu a day before the fukushima 9.
that would indicate the flare had immediate impact... i would think.

PS Hiya PHAGE! Thanks again.

Oh, and I do not necessarily think the OP stole this idea. This idea is not trivial, it is inevitable. Any time there is a strong solar flare there is a prediction thread like this one. How does one steal that? Sure, lacks originality and novel thought but I usually chalk that up to a novice.

To be honest, I have not even checked the OPs join date or anything because I really do not care. Last I checked, ATS does not issue ca$h for stars and flags so that is irrelevant. Whether the OP is just wh---ng for attention or not makes no difference. I came in and started posting in this thread because it is the current 'junk' thread to whimsically chat about what could cause such a correlation such that a large EQ will result from this recent X5/X1 double-flare. There is always a thread like this one and it is a great place to have unconventional, outside-the-box, revolutionary - and sometimes just crazy chat. Some of you need to be less afraid of entertaining crazy 'out there' thinking. It does take some discipline to do it right, but it can be fun!

Those that provide valid debunking material are in the clear. That is your role and is much appreciated. It is the ones that blindly dismiss without even trying to entertain the notion that need to take a step back and ask why.

The data I used covered three solar maximums.
As you say, during solar maximum solar flare activity increases.
As the data shows, there is no corresponding increase in earthquake activity with the increased solar activity at solar maximum.

As we approach solar maximum people become more susceptible to what I call the shower syndrome. A false connection between events.

What you prove is that solar flares are not a direct or common catalyst to seismic activity. That does not mean a strong geomagnetic storm from a large CME under the right conditions cannot cause an earthquake.

I can plot all stabbings and all deaths in NYC over a decade but without more data you will only see a lot of stabbings and a lot of deaths scattered about over time. From that alone are you going to say a stabbing cannot cause a death? From the two data points alone you will only see a bunch of deaths (eqs) and stabbings (cmes).. you need more information to start linking and discovering that a stabbing can cause death under certain circumstances.

In fact, what the OP claims is that magnitude of CME will be in proportion to magnitude of EQ. I am not saying this is right, but let's humor that. That would be akin to maybe saying depth of stabbing may be linked to state of health. The deeper the stabbing, the more likely a death will occur at the same time or soon follow.

And the statistics would show that. If there were an increase in the number of stabbings there would be a corresponding increase in the number of deaths (or, in the case of non fatal stabbings, emergency room reports of stabbings). There would be a correlation. There is also a very obvious mechanism whereby stabbing causes injury and death.

There is no such correlation in solar (or geomagnetic activity) and earthquake activity. Solar activity follows a roughly 11 year cycle, earthquake activity does not. There is no reason to expect a strong earthquake during or after a solar flare or geomagnetic activity. Earthquakes happen. Sometimes they happen during or after solar activity, just as often they do not.

Sometimes the phone rings when I get in the shower, sometimes it does not. Who knows, maybe there is some unknown connection between my shower and my friends. Or not.

Like - TPTB take advantage of this solar flare and blame it for all the internet going down while they strike Iran

The next event will be felt from Michigan to Florida and as far west as Iowa.

It will happen within 30 hours and will have nothing to do with the flare, it will be HAARP.
