Architects have designed an amazing 65-storey 'Earth-Scraper' which descends 300 metres below ground. The stunning “upside down pyramid” in the middle of Mexico City is designed to circumvent height limits on new buildings in the capital. The subterranean building will have 35 storeys for offices, 10 storeys for homes as well as shops and a museum.

Sorry about the pics. I think this is pretty cool. What does ATS think?

Even if you really believe the surface is over populated, consider building down below ground and the population could double or triple and fit comfortably.

Neat idea, but that would be one large swimming pool if it was built where I live.

Looks amazing.

I wonder how it would fair against a flood or an earthquake.

Interesting concept, those dwarfs were onto something!

Would be a bugger living at the bottom in a flood!

Lol Genius! Lets build an underground tomb in a 1:supposedly sinking city and 2: in a heavy seismic zone. Yeah that's smart. I'll take my chances above ground I don't need my claustrophobia intensifying with thoughts of an Mega Quake burying me alive. Death Trap waiting to happen especially in Mexico City....

It would be a good concept for non seismic zones for if above ground becomes inhospitable but not under present conditions. Still cool though with things they come up with these days

Did you delete some images? I can only see the bottom 3 photo's, the top ones are all small boxes with red crosses in. I'd have liked to have seen them all...

Aha thank you! (None of the images are showing on here now)...Amazing photos, amazing structure! I wonder, what would happen in an earthquake....I know that is a pessimistic comment, but it just sprang into my mind...!!

True, but the amount of resources would stay the same.
