Bioethicist: Jon Stewart is America’s greatest public intellectual

A bioethicist at Loyola University claims that comedian Jon Stewart is currently the top public intellectual in the United States, a position that has typically been attributed to Henry Kissinger.

“Jon Stewart is our greatest public intellectual. This is no joke,” Dr. Kayhan Parsi wrote in an article published in the American Journal of Bioethics.

“Although Stewart himself would deride such an assertion as the kind of hyperbole that too often permeates our political discourse, this is simply a fact,” he said. “Stewart has emerged as our voice of sanity in a sea of insanity in a new media age with its ephemeral nature and lack of substance.”

Bioethics is the study of controversial ethics brought about by advances in biology and medicine. Bioethicists are concerned with the ethical questions that arise in the relationships among life sciences, biotechnology, medicine, politics, law, and philosophy. It also includes the study of the more commonplace questions of values ("the ethics of the ordinary") which arise in primary care and other branches of medicine.

Looks like that 'bioethicist' needs to go get his $$$ back from wherever he got his degree and then back to school elsewhere. Jon Stewart is a left wing entertainer. He's good at his job. Nothing more.

John Stewart Leibowitz is also the brother of Larry Leibowitz, CEO of NYSE Euronext Division, AKA one of the most powerful men in the world. I don't trust him or his family. Stewart says exactly what he's paid to say and nothing more.

Jon Stewert himself agrees with you and has said so on more than one occasion. This doesn't change his impact on America, though.

He is a national voice and a force that often takes our nation by its collar and shakes it while screaming "What the hell is wrong with you?!"

Many media figures try that but don't back it up with facts which, ironically, places him on a higher journalism standard than most "serious" talking heads.

When a TV comedian is regarded as the greatest public intellectual in a Country, you know your in trouble. Maybe the result of all the anti intellectualism in American culture.
