I think she is just trying to get herself known by saying something shocking to get attention.

I've got a suggestion for her? If she's looking for attention, why not say mohammed is a hermaphrodite, then she'd have all the attention she can handle.
But no, since it's the Christian's lets come up with some whacked out claim, they won't do anything about it.

For once I could not agree with you more. If this individual has said Mohamed was an Alien and not a prophet, there would have been death threats sent to her, flags would have been burnt. But it is ok's since it is Jesus, let bash Christianity.

This individual maybe a feminist but she does not represent the whole of the feminist movement. One would take her claims with a pinch of salt.

Well maybe her next academic paper will be on the gender or sexual orientation of Allah or Mohamed and then the extremist Islams will eliminate her ignorance from the gene pool.......

I'm sorry Ms. Cornwall but this type of garrulous rhetoric will get you no where in the scholarly community. If you want the proper notoriety and accreditation please write papers with a coherent structure and factual premise. I am completely perplexed as to what your reasoning behind submitting this garbage was. The only thing you've proved is that you yourself could possibly be a hermaphrodite and 1 in 2500 people is a hermaphrodite, thank you for that. Also, it's called the IMMACULATE conception for a reason, those divine chromosomes are flawless

With you completely on this. His divine chromosomes are flawless without a doubt.

One thing though, many think Jesus is the Immaculate Conception. Actually, the Immaculate Conception refers to Mary and means that she was conceived without the stain of original sin.
en.wikipedia.org...

Jesus was incarnated.
en.wikipedia.org...(Christianity)

The Incarnation is a fundamental theological teaching of orthodox (Nicene) Christianity, based on its understanding of the New Testament. The Incarnation represents the belief that Jesus, who is the non-created second hypostasis of the triune God, took on a human body and nature and became both man and God. In the Bible its clearest teaching is in John 1:14: "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us."[1]

A few years back another feminist theologian tried to put forth that God the Father could have been a woman. If that were the case why did Jesus always refer to him as "Father?"

Likewise, in this case the Father has declared that Jesus is His son. (At his Baptist and the Transfiguration).

When you hear the term "feminist theologian" you have to know this is someone with and agenda to screw with people's beliefs.

You had to go and pick the 15th century painting with Jesus looking so feminine. Everybody looked feminine in that era of oil painting. One thing to note is that virgin birth can have a variety of different meanings. Maybe it can mean birth of a hermaphrodite.

I suppose you are angry because the thought of Jesus having both organs seems like an insult. On the contrary, It could be viewed as a miracle of god.

Are you applying for a job as a feminist theologian?
I would like to say something here, but I'll just leave with this thought:
You might as well be burning a Bible for your suppositions
are nothing more than taking what is written and trashing it.

Luke 1:34-35
""How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?" The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God."

Jesus, what a maroon. I generally don't make retarded statements about someone but this lady is about as smart as a box of rocks.

Personally I believe that Mary was diddling around and when she realized what she had done she started yelling
"Joseph! Joseph! An angel has come unto me" (only I don't think that was the verb she meant) and you all know the rest of that story. Immaculate Conception my ass.

I tend to believe that jesus had three penises. He was a step up on a diphallia. A triphallia if you will.

So, THAT'S what they meant by the Holy Trinity!!!!

But seriously, I do agree that what she is saying is a big stretch. Now, I might be more open to believing that Jesus was really a woman, and the Catholic Church modified the early scriptures to hide that fact. That actually could make some sense.

That actually makes sense since the creator is neither male nor female but one combined being.

So too would Jesus be, if he really were the "son" of god. he would be pure, neither one nor the other but a perfect balance of both.

Kind of weird to think about really, but there are probably hints in his teachings and what not that could provide clues.

I am not trashing anything. Why people think that being a hermaphrodite is such an evil thing is beyond me. I also wonder why such a literal interpritation of things translated over centuries can be in the spirit of God. There is always such hate associated with questioning principles of small sects around the world. One says worship this, one says worship that, and the penalty is always punishment. If Jesus went to India with two sets of junk, then he would have really been famous.

The truth is the Bible was compiled by people who were terrified by this sort of thing. I'm not saying it's true, but if it were, they most certainly would have hidden it. Plus, if you go with the idea that Jesus is the child of God - many people believe God to be both male and female.

Ahh academics. Academia is not a bad place, however it is a place where you must "publish or die". In the Sciences (where my degrees are from) it's seldom that you get nonsense like this, you do get some rather esoteric ideas, but they are not "out there". But in the arts.... yeah well. You publish so you have enough publications, so you can apply (and get) grants to....publish.

I choose the life of industry (Pharmaceuticals) over that of academia to avoid that wankery.

The academic in question is a "Feminist Theologian" which means you will get some "interesting" ideas.

My only advice is ignore her
Don't envourage the Trolls

Honestly I believe somewhere the bible would of mentioned that small element that Jesus was rocking the mangina... Jesus was a male not a hermy. And god made man in his image right? Well men have penises. He made women for men. Therefore god has a penis as do us males and so did my buddy jesus

LOL! God has a penis? Does he have all the other bodily function that you have. Digestion, elimination, ear wax and hairs, excretions, finger nails, a belly button?

Does he burp after a good meal and cry after a sad movie? Does he enjoy a good book, maybe a round of golf with his arch angels?

Buddy, thank goodness that your god isn't my god! HAHA!

and no he's supernatural so his body is perfect unlike ours and he doesn't have a belly button because he wasn't born. And as for the penis thing I'm have no clue if he has one because he doesn't pee or have sex that I know of. All I know is that he made man in his image. According to the bible

Gnostic Christians recognized the female principle in Sophie the natural law representing Wisdom
Dante 1300 writer of The Divine Comedy wrote that the soul could not enter the higher realms unless it passed through the female principle.
Ancient Egyptian philosophy speaks of the soul as being sexless - this academic is shallow in her research it seems

Could the image that we are, excuse me, you are created in, (I'm female, no penis
) possibly be a "spiritual" image and not a physical replica?
