I have to buy it, or she starts her tantrum up. She will beg and plead and scream like the world is going to end if you don't get it. I only get it, so the screaming stops.

That's a headache all in itself.

The word is "NO!" And the solution is ear plugs! Stop catering to this child! She obviously has no direction and no discipline. (and neither do you if you continue like this) Someone has to be the adult here.

Yeah,

well that is easier said, then done.

She's right.

It's a piece of junk. I'll get her another one if she is patient.

This thing is so old on the inside skeleton that even I am lost looking in it.
And, I usually don't have a problem fixing desktops.

I'll sell this one tomorrow.

lady i have been repairing computers for a while now
if you haven't opened that desktop yet

don't bother that is a seriously old compaq, and from painful personal experiance with those
even if you can upgrade the ram [at least 64 MB for xp [original]]
trying to install xp is going to be a nightmare

do you really need more frustration/agravation?

NVM i see you opened it
bet there where cobwebs in it

If the other one that we were working on didn't fry up none of this would of happened. LOL CPU fried

If it's running win95 then I doubt you'll be able to upgrade much on it at all. They just don't make the hardware for them anymore. the Motherboard would be obsolete making the ram and processor rarities perhaps on EBay. The PSU most likely will be an ATX, and the modern PSU's won't work.

Windows 95 was pretty much made to run on hardware built in 1995. It was, at the time, the first real household Desktop M$ OS that did not simply run on top of Dos. As in, you didn't need Autoexec.bat to initiate win.exe.

I setup win95 in a vmware box and weeeeeehooo I forgot how painful that was to use

get her one of those rasberry Pi's

www.raspberrypi.org...

INTRODUCTION
What’s a Raspberry Pi?

The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard. It’s a capable little PC which can be used for many of the things that your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and games. It also plays high-definition video. We want to see it being used by kids all over the world to learn programming.

An ARM GNU/Linux box for $25. Take a byte!

25 bucks 35 for the b model which has Ethernet

should keep her busy

Wow, that even hooks up into a TV??

I'm going to just go pick this up tomorrow. That should make her happy.

well it's not as old as the compaq

en.wikipedia.org...

The Power Mac G4 was a series of personal computers that was designed, manufactured, and sold by Apple between 1999 and 2004. They used the PowerPC G4 (PPC74xx) series of microprocessors. They were heralded by Apple to be the first personal supercomputers, reaching speeds of 4 to 20 Gigaflops. They were both the last Macintoshes to boot natively into Classic Mac OS and the first to boot exclusively into Mac OS X.

Maximum Operating System Mac OS X 10.4.11 "Tiger" and Mac OS 9.2.2 Mac OS X 10.4.11 "Tiger" and Mac OS 9.2.2
Unofficially can support Mac OS X v10.5 "Leopard" with LeopardAssist

check the specs on the machine before buying
you wont be able to install windows though
that requires an intel board and this one's power pc

still if its just for the girls facebook fix...

Just a couple of things... stuck CD/DVD drawer... look for the little pinhole under the drawer and poke a straightened paperclip into it and push until the drawer opens again.. they get a bit stuck at times.

Second.. the newer PC won't run Sims either I think.

Lastly.. time to teach this child about manners and respect.. especially in Your place where you have all the rights to say what rules apply there.

Sometimes, we just have to cut the coat tails and let the hangers-on go their own way. If they are not learning from you then you cannot help them.

Bah, I just need something to run her SIMS games and paint programs on. Dang it.

I'll try that pin hole trick. Thanks. I don't know, be pretty much useless to even try, if I'm going to get rid of it.

I'm with you Gal! Enough already OP, either change your life or quit your complaining. We care, but if you do not, then there is nothing we can do to support you anymore. We switch to being enablers and I am not going there. Your on your own toots.

Hospital is FED up with her, they told her tonight, they are not her medicine dispenser, she's the one that wanted to go in the first place. I'm not going to tell the child "No", then she would of claimed the abuse BS, cops would came, probably gave us a warning for refusing to take her to the hospital and all this blah blah blah.

Damned if you, Damned if you don't.

Stuck in the situation until someone does something. Only thing I can do, is try to keep her calm. And that's what I have been doing.

If they are going to put her in a Mental Hospital, then do already. If you are going to send her to her fathers, then do it already. Let's go, let's go, let's go.

I got the advocate and doctors, now get the ball rolling.
