Hello fellow ATS members I ran into an interesting scenario while at the local starbucks. I Logged onto the ATT wifi network at Starbucks and tried to access Presstv through my iphone and this is the screen I got:

Thinking it was just some random error I logged off wifi and logged into my 3g network and well what do you know:

(sorry bottom half of picture got corrupted)

So I was able to logon using 3g. So I logged back into attwifi:

Still same thing, I could not access presstv:

(bottom got corrupted, sorry)

but could access CNN on ATTwifi at starbucks:

I may no longer be a customer if they are practicing these types of underhanded things..What does ATT and Starbucks have to benefit from a censorship of Iran's news..or could it be that the Owner of Starbucks Howard Schultz...

I have a pretty good data plan so I always use the 3G when I'm out. It wouldn't surprise me though if Starbucks practiced such things.

Sounds like another reason to avoid Starbucks.

Not surprising. I refuse to go to Starbucks. They are over priced and in bed with the NWO. This simply confirms some more of it. It wasn't too long ago they started helping DHS with the ads on the sleeves of there coffee. It I want good gourmet coffee I can buy the really good stuff and make it at home minus the harassment.

What a bummer, we all know PressTV is a fair and balanced news source right

Presstv is a news media site? What is its bias? Is there reason for it to be censored?

Maybe it has published things before which threaten corporate interests of Starbuck's. Why don't you just ask them? Phone them and ask.

That is not the point, the point is that Starbucks offers wifi to paying customers, and as a customer I would like access to what I desire on the web, not to be limited by their censorship.

Technically, the Sixbucks wifi is free. My wife used to work for them and most of the stores she worked at let people sit and use the wifi without a purchase. Could be different from area to area.

As far as your theory, I still don't see why they would want to do that in the first place. Maybe it's just that store. Try different ones and see if you get the same results. I might even test it myself at a few different stores.

But I will go on record that the wifi at Starbucks can be extremely limiting as far as sites that may be larger than others. Especially considering it is being used by a lot of other people.

Their website seems to be under attack? I was unable to access it for a bit, I think someone is performing a DDOS on them.

Many large companies impose 3rd party filtering software on their networks, though it's usually used against their employees (to prevent online gambling, facebooking, etc). Just a thought. Starbucks may not even be aware of the finer details, but they should be.

When I worked at a certain large company, about twice a year our filtering software would get updated and half the net would become unavailable... that is, until certain people complained to get things unblocked.

Yes but presstv is not a gambling site, it is a news source. While starbucks may not be aware, ATT is actively blocking it.

It would be interesting to know if those people who have ATT phones can access it thgough ATT's 3g/4g networks. That would be even more evidence for the conspiracy against Iran.

PS, has anyone independently tried it at their local store?

Yet you state above that their website could be under attack....

and then continue on about Starbucks censoring news from Iran in some conspiracy.....

If its a problem with ttheir website then shouldnt this whole thread be thrown in the garbage?

No I started this trhead yesterday.

I was just getting some errors trying to access it today from home, not starbucks. If you see my OP I lay out the proof of their censorship on the ATT network not the 3g network. Meaning I could access it via 3g, but not through ATT at starbucks, clear proof of censorship.

Today it is a different situation at HOME, not at starbucks, it is not about censorship I was talking but their website being down in general. It does not take away from the fact that ATT is actively censoring it.

ATT is also actively through their OWNERSHIP of Niteflirt trying to monopolize the teleporn industry by using the payment providers to force the trade workers to have to recieve payment through them at rates over 50 percent ...
censorship PIMPS

I wouldn't put ANYTHING past them

Looks like I was right about it being under attack yesterday:

A recent cyber attack launched by US and Israeli hackers against the website of Iran's 24-hour English-language news channel, Press TV, has failed to take down the website. According to the Press TV report, the attack against the website took place from 14:00 on March 5 to 04:00 local time on March 6. However, the effective security countermeasures taken by the Press TV technical team foiled the cyber attack on the website.
