All the more reason to list the father on the birth certificate, being abandoned by the paternal unit. It's still the father's responsibility to pay for the child they helped make.

Wow!!! I can understand your frustration. It's a bit one sided though. College is a sexual playground, and the high cost of birth control won't stop the party. The smartest thing we can do is make birth control available for free or low cost to students. Otherwise there will be MORE abortions and MORE births and MORE unhappy women dropping out of college and MORE angry unprepared parents. We need to take smart actions and not introvert on how deeply this can affect our pockets. Here's a memo: The world is already overpopulated.

You're 61 and your first job was at 15? I am only 24 and my fist job was on a farm in Seveiville Tn. at 11 years old. I've as well been working jobs where taxes are taken out of your pay since the age of 15. I had no choice but to work if I wanted anything, I was one of those people born into poverty. I am now a working college student/parent in pursuit of a phd in psychology. I assure you that I am not of any entitlement generation, those kids don't know what work is when compared to someone such as myself. If anything I am a much more responsible person than the majority of those middle class kids, I bust my ass both as a parent, as an employee, and as a student with a 3.9, most of those children who have had everything handed to them don't carry half of the weight that a person such as myself does with their 2.5 gpa... I would appreciate it if you do not put me into that category.

Its actually the responsibility of both parents.

But in most cases the mom is the custodial parent - - trying to juggle everything.

I think most states now have standard set rates for child support. Which is pretty minimal in the actual cost of raising a child.

The man will not be deficient in Beer funds. Unless he spawns multiple children from multiple women.

So we hear the government has spent all the taxes they took from you to pay for your retirement and health care, that means my taxes will be paying for you, unless of course you also saved enough not to draw pension or medical benefits.

Should I pay for you or the folks that didn't make enough additional provision?

I think it was wrong of the Government to do what it did, but I do not begrudge paying for you or for providing contraception for those that can not afford it.

Sorry Sweet Pea....I paid into social security to pay for my retirement. The fact that the government stole all that money for other things...and is using your taxes to attempt to replace what they stole is a problem, isn't it.

I own my own home, grow most of what I eat, have planned to take care of myself. So you can stop worrying about putting a roof over my head, nor food on my plate.

I'd like free red wine please.

However, I would pay for someone else's birth control via tax if it stops some of the idiots reproducing and sucking on the welfare state.

But sometimes they can't be asked using the birth control.

Not idiots... We're talking Georgetown, the cream of the crop... How dare you make a comparison like that! I mean, really, they pay for their own education, and isn't that enough? Give the poor girl a break. She wants the same freebie treatment that we give away with the free, government provided cell phone program with prepaid, five hour per month talk time. However, you have to be broke enough so that the government can buy your luxury phone for you, and pay for your time.

BTW... I prefer a sweet wine. Never developed an educated palate, so I would like a couple of gallon of room temperature Mogen David a month for free, please. LOL!

My argument is if the insurance company wanted to independently prescribe birth control that is fine with me. But government CAN NOT mandate what these insurance companies have to do. This ploy is simply a backdoor for government intervention and it makes me sick.

But if all these people didn't use birth control our world would be like Idiocracy. Think about that. Do you want those people having 12 children anyway? I've always used a condom, it protects from germs too.

If they can't control themselves and they're in high level universities, I'll just be outright blunt about this. I WOULD rather they indulge themselves to the full lack of self control they are capable of.....so they drop out before carrying that into positions of leadership. Business leadership or political, doesn't matter.

If they can't control themselves....it isn't our problem to pay for though. That is for sure.

University and College are for learning. It isn't for mating like rabbits...and it SURE isn't an excuse to soak taxpayers for cost + 100% like everything else we're hit up to pay for these days.

Here here.

Insurance doesn't cover everything.
It covers what the policy says, a policy everyone should review before choosing it.
Access to healthcare is unhindered, you can have access to anything you want.
Paying for it is another matter.
Some policies cover everything under the sun, others are limited.

If people want their contraceptive covered pick a plan that covers it.
It's just like making sure your plan has dental and eye care.

The family down the street from me already gets free beer and birth control from the government. In fact they get a lot of "free" stuff. Not one of them have a job any more. Husband used to drive a truck. Wife used to work at the high school. Daughter worked at the craft store til it closed down. They are not scumbags or anything, don't use drugs either. Last week he told me over 200 people showed up for a truck driver job. He drinks his beer and waters his lawn and he don't look real happy. Wife has to stand in line and use her food stamp card. They don't drive a new Cadillac, its a fourteen year old Mercury.

So, IMHO, if the Law School party girl can't afford condoms, she's lying.

I used to be the college ambassador for Monster energy drink, every campus has ambassadors from at least one energy drink, plus sports drinks and more companies.
I gave out Monster condoms all the time, it was my job go to parties hand our Monster and condoms bracelets anything.
Some other companies even had "dental dams" for safe oral, and lube(don't think I need to explain that).

Anyone on any campus can get access to at least condoms for free if not more.
Hell even if you can't find the free condoms that's what friends are for.
I would just text a few fraternity bros, even some sorority girls tell them the dorm I was at and condoms would rain down on the balcony.

Access to free contraception in college is easier than getting drinks under 21 and that's a cake walk.

My girlfriend PAYS for birth control, where do u get free birth control at? I'm sure she would like to know. What hapend to condoms? Good thought though about free beer!

There is some logic to this. After all, if there is government sponsored birth control for anybody who wants it then it may actually take a beer (or two... or three) to ensure that these people become sexually attractive enough to engage in intercourse.

As the kids these days are so fond of telling us old farts, "I'm just saying."

Now I'm picturing an ugly chick going in for birth control and a doctor scoffing and asking "do you really think you need this".
Thank you for the laugh.

If you exclude the fact that birth control prevents overpopulation(which is an extremely dire matter), then yeah, the OP seems logical.

Birth control isn't about having fun whenever you want, it's about preventing overpopulation. Screwing is an innate human instinct, getting drunk isn't.
