Birth control is a commodity, its a way to have recreational sex without the loom of pregnancy. If you want it, you should pay for it. This luxury isn't free and it certainly shouldn't be paid for by our tax money. There are other ways to prevent pregnancies, abstinence is free!

Sex is not necessary to sustain ones life, and as such the government should have absolutely no part in offering free OCPs, condoms, IUD, or any other form of birth control.

Which - excludes Viagra.

Of course - - insurance companies freely allow Viagra - - - because its considered a medical problem if men can't get it up.

More birth control paid for by the state means more up front costs to taxpayers and the insured on premiums to cover the cost of pills and/or medical procedures, the cost of treating allergies to various birth control methods, complications of invasive medical procedures, and lawsuits arising from being turned down for birth control or the improper disbursement of birth control.

Sex actually has loads of health benefits and so is actually lowering health costs for us all.
Being on the Pill as a young woman, means that you don't have to get an abortion if you get raped and you don't have to worry about pregancy if the condom you were using breaks (STD prevention).

Why should I be called on to pay for either.....

There is a whole generation of single mothers who race to have babies...as many as they can by the time they are in their early 20s. They won't marry the baby-daddies, nor file for child support, that would make baby-daddy mad.

Let the state pay for everything. Housing, food, medical, ....where does it stop.

I keep paying my taxes.....but have no choice in what they go towards.....I'm mad as hell....

Everything is going up in cost for me. I have to budget to survive. The welfare generation could not care less about where money comes from. they just look in the mailbox...bingo, there it is.

I disagree when you say that beer is as much recreational as sex tho... I cant agree with that. Plus I dont drink beer, so if I make a little math, I've had more women than I held beer bottles, on a 14 or 15:1 ratio. So I disagree.

I really don't see what the problem is here.

There is a set amount of coverage and certain things are covered certain things are not.

Some jobs don't provide dental or corrective lenses coverage.
If you want those you need to negotiate to have them included, find a different coverage that covers them or get a different job that offered the coverage.
If it's college coverage find a college that provides what you want.

Access should be universal, that means everyone who wants it should have it.
It's optional though under many health plans, just as dental and eye glasses are.

No one is saying she or anyone else can't have it, just that she would have to pay for it.

If I want to have sex I make damn sure I have a condom, why because I don't want to be a father I'm too young.
I could have sex with it but I choose not to.
It's all about choices and paying for them, I don't expect the government to pay for my condoms.
I will take free condoms whenever they are offered though(mostly promo stuff), gotta save money where I can.

Well this certainly doesn't reek of stupidity at all. I don't know about all of you but I personally would much rather pay the extra taxes if the case may be to support birth control than to have to pay more taxes to raise the children of the people who did not have the option of using birth control. It is much less costly to pay for birth control than to raise a child. I suppose many of you would prefer us not help those children though, I mean let em starve to death, if they didn't want such a fate they wouldn't have chosen to be born.

It is a very well know fact that the majority of children born into poverty never make it out. They eventually have children of their own that will most likely follow in the same path. So yeah, I guess when you think about it, it really is cheaper to pay all the welfare required than to just pay for the prevention.

Most of these college students don't even get government assisted health insurance, many that would qualify for it don't even get it. I really don't think its college students you need to be worried about. The real problem is that because of people who are born into wealth and power making decisions based merely on whether it will somehow benefit themselves or not have all but destroyed the world we now seem to have an increasing number of people who seem to be under a belief that clinging to moronic opinions will somehow make everything better. These people force their stupidity on all the rest of us like a disease. If for nothing else, for this reason alone birth control should probably be a requirement for most people these days. At this rate I truly believe that it would be better for our poor planet if humans would just go ahead and die out.

I do not apologize for my opinion, nor do I feel that I should. I did not ride in on a biblical text made of silver and gold, and I do not attempt to force my beliefs onto others. I just wish that humans could act as if they possessed a freakin brain that could at the very least rival that of a monkey and attempt to use that brain to make the world a better place rather than seek to continue damaging it even more.

Yup, life is all about responsibility.
I have a friend who just had a child, it's been 5+ years since their last child.
While in the store some old nosy jerk commented on her being pregnant and having a 5+ year old with them.
The person said something like "well I guess accidents happen sometimes".
My friend went off on them, it wasn't an accident her and her husband talked and decided it was time for another child so they went off birth control.

Sex isn't mandatory, but being responsible and accountable for your actions should be.
Unfortunately society is changing and people are acting like responsibility is a four letter word.

I agree. Automatically mandatory for any woman who refuses to list the father on the birth certificate. That is how so many women are getting around the child support laws. They won't list the fathers, so they can't be tracked down by the state to pay for their own children.

Who is more lacking of intelligence, the man that can admit that his is very aware of the fact that people will have sex, or the man that seems to believe that people will not do so because he so wishes it? I can tell you without a shadow of doubt that one of the few forms of entertainment the poor have is sex, tell them to stop, see how well that works for you. So I am to assume you would rather pay more to raise a child than to prevent it? The simple fact is that people will not stop having sex because they are poor and those with more than them tell them to stop, if anything that will only make them do it more.

Only problem is who do you test?
If they won't fess up you can't test anyone.

I'm all for mandatory testing though even if they know who the father is.
It may be insulting to some people but that document is important it shouldn't just be filled out on someones good word.

But, I don't have more than them. But, I'm stuck paying for whatever they think they need, that they won't procure for themselves. I'm prisoner to the entitlement generation. Do you pay taxes....I'm 61, been paying since my first job starting at 15 years old.

I'm sure there are some women who do as you state. But in comparison to women abandoned by the Paternal unit - - - hardly a blip.
