Discovery Channel had a special about this some time ago. I haven't looked that much into it, and I don't know the title of the program, but it was extremely interresting, that much I remember. Try searching for Atlantis+priests+hess on google.com, it brought back 93 results, so I guess you'll find at least one article that's worth readin' Please post a good link if you find one. This is interresting stuff, and connects most world-empires that has come and gone...
