Your statements are the truth. It's not that we are trying to restrict creativity, but there are ALWAYS limits. If absolute dirty pornographic writing is your thing, go for it, but there are other forums out there beside ATS to post them on. It's nice to skirt, but as intelligent people, keep it clean.

However, tainting my image, I think boncho and I could raise some real hell.

Not today.

Not tomorow.

and not the next day after that.

But then, perhaps. Dangit, boncho, why are you having tea with Michelle at that time?

I just submitted my entry to this contest. Hopefully my entry doesn't violate the T&C with the use of the word "frack". ( I actually use this word as a substitute for the "F" word in real life).

Anyway it is TEOTWAWKI

Hopefully people will find it enjoyable enough to make it through to the end of the story. I apologize for it's longish nature, but I just had to see the story through to it's completion.

You can always use "fug", a band named themselves after it after a writer had to use it to get around censorship.

As you've likely heard before, we are all responsible for what we post. How responsible to all of the membership is your short story? Are you fine with a 12yo member reading it(?), because I know there are members that young. If you have young children of your own, would you want them to read it?

Now there's an interesting point. Would I want my young children reading material such as that? Most likely not. Far, far too soon to be dealing with questions like that right now... But I guess the greater question would be, if you have kids young enough to be concerned this style of story may be going too far, then am I enough of a parent to be gauging what my kids actually do and view online. There is certainly a lot more, far trashier, things for them to find that is uncensored out there in internet land, it's really up to us as teachers and protectors to moderate what they see and don't see.

As a writer I can see this for what it is, a little trashy, a little Mills & Boony, and yes, maybe a little outside the bounds of good taste, but it is what it is, and is still a good read. But I can certainly see the point of view here, I guess it just comes down to it's audience in the end. Besides, if it is too far, I'm fairly sure people will take up pitchforks and torches, as is the true style here...

IMHO, if you're wondering if your story stays within the T&C.....some part of it probably did cross the line.

Sexual innuendo, sexually suggestive.....once you start pushing the envelope....someone will try to push it a little further.

I'm all for allowing a bit more leeway in creative writing, but I think this is not something appropriate for ATS.

Least we could have done is do a rewrite to make it fall in line with t&c. I edited my original reply to your post because I thought you were okay with the topic in short stories. If I knew you were going to trash it, I would have left the original reply which was me offering to make edits so you would have been comfortable with the thread.

It seems you felt it was more important to trash the thread without discourse however. I don't really mind any of my ATS threads being trashed, but written works are another matter.

But you at least got to wield your hammer so you're happy right?

Boncho,that thread I wrote about the rape really happened to me in 1986.
I spent a long time trying to have someone explain to me what and why.
I had a UFO investigator tell me my experience was paranormal.I have
some physical problems now that started after this incident.

No need to continue. The decision to remove your thread was made after a lengthy discussion by all staff members. DTOM was simply the moderator that took the action AFTER the decision was made to remove the thread. The staff was unanimous that the story contained material not suitable for ATS. You knew that the story had to abide by the terms and conditions, and you knew that you were walking a thin line.

15a) Offensive Content: You will not Post forum posts, private messages, PODcasts, blog entries, videos, images, and other supported content, links to images or use avatars and/or signatures that are unlawful, harassing, libelous, privacy invading, abusive, threatening, harmful, hateful, vulgar, obscene, and/or disruptive. Doing so will result in removal of your Post(s) and immediate termination of your account.

I haven't written fiction for a while so any feedback is greatly appreciated. There's a little twist at the end.

I saw the crest of the wounded warrior from the top of the nearest hill, but I had watched how bravely he fought against the swarming dragons. He fought three dragons at once, a formidable warrior, and as he collapsed I wretched forward to include him. It took time, but I was at his side, and the dragons flew away.

boncho, brave knight, why? Was it for the honor of a woman? Otherwise, it was all for naught.

Come, let us hither to yon castle on the ridge. We heal, then form an attack against yon demons.

Wow, this is pretty awesome. Do these contests happen regularly? It's been a while since I've tried my hand at fiction. Weekly I write an opinion column for a website, so a break from "journalistic" writing is nice.

This isn't the best I could dish out, but it was the first thing to come to my mind. Most likely wont be ANYWHERE near being considered a winner, but it was fun to write it. Though, I did get some major writers block near the end and it feels kind of rushed to me. Oh well. Check it out.

That's the idea. So far it's been 1 per month and I hope to keep them coming at a steady rate.

Pondering the next contest, I was thinking of giving writers the opportunity to rule the world. You know... in an Alexander the Great kind of way, only this time the WHOLE enchilada/world and not just a slice of it. It'd be set in the future, of course, but I'd like to learn what you wonderfully bright ATS members would do if you had the power.

So... with two weeks still left in this contest, you can already start thinking about the one that's going to start on April Fools Day.

I wasn't really thinking 'Godliness', but see no reason why it couldn't be. After all, the world's got a history of conquerers who thought of themselves as a 'god'.

It could also be the Illuminati plan for world domination and you get the nod to rule after they get it set up. There's lots of possibilities and plenty of desire on the part of the human psyche to take control. What will be really interesting is the variance of ideas people have about the way they'd change the world sociallly.

All the armies and military equipment on the planet, for instance, would be for the single purpose of making sure you'd get your way. They wouldn't be for fighting each other anymore, would they? They'd be your 'police force'.

John Lennon's laid out some ideas with his song 'Imagine', if that's the way you'd go -OR- one could decide the Georgia Guidestones are the best plan.

How about a nice plate of Soylent Green... anyone?

We can be like L Ron Hubbard when he was sitting in a bar with a friend and decided to start a new religion.
Get in on the ground floor and eventually rule part of the world. Could be interesting.
