Why It Will Be Very Difficult For Israel to Attack Iran and Why They'll Need US support

The logistics of an Israeli airstrike against Iran hasn't really been discussed much, from what I've read. I came across this great article today. It points out the Israeli capability; the bombs they're know to have and the aircraft they have. They only have 10 Boeing KC135s for air refueling. Those planes are ancient. Israel would likely have to have US air support, at least for communications and air refueling, and that is exactly why the US Air Force has indicated they have the capability to support an Israeli mission. Israel can not do the mission round trip without air refueling.

Further, Israel’s F-15I aircraft are the only jets they have that can carry these bombs, and each jet can carry only one. While they would have F-16I jets to escort them, most of Iran’s nuclear sites are out of range for both models, making mid-air refueling necessary. Israel only has about 10 Boeing 707 mid-air refueling tankers. Given the long range nature of the mission, limited refueling capabilities, and the number of jets it would take to do serious damage to Iran’s nuclear sites — Israel has 125 fighter jets combined — the mission would have to literally be flawless.

Pentagon officials said military options being prepared start with providing aerial refueling for Israeli planes

The rhetoric is ramping up. I give it a greater than 50/50 chance Israel will strike Iran this year with the help of the United States and NATO.

God help us all...

We may wake up tomorrow and its done, but we can only hope that there continues to be enough internet chatter opposing it from the west to make the leadership believe such a move would be political suicide.

I really do think it would be a turning point for many, we were angered by Libya, we are still angry about Iraq, Iran may prove to be the final straw for many who currently remain silent.

As the old saying goes "This has disaster written all over it"

Good thing they are going to inherit our F-22's after we replace those with F-135's. Not only will they get the F-22 but the A10-Warthog which is basically a flying tank.

Going to miss seeing A10's in action, in my opinion they are the most bad ass jet ever invented. That jet can fly home with nothing but ductape holding it together if need be.

The US has also gone on record saying they
WOULD NOT open Iraqi airspace for them.
I am not sure where the Nuclear sites are, but
flying over Iraq is almost necessary.

BUT, would we really shoot down an Israeli bomber?

While those planes you consider ancient are very well used and have done their service well for numerous years. Besides the KC-X isn't due to be delivered even to our military until 2013 last I heard.

You don't know much about Israel, isn't it ?

1.Israel have a modified F15 that have extra fuel tank and can carry 2 BBU's.He will also need refueling, but on the way back home.
2.There are an unspecified numbers of Israeli bombers in Saudi Arabia.
3.Jericho's can hit Iran.
4.One can paint US F-15's and 16's in the Gulf to look like they belong to israel and "loan" them to israeli pilots.
and 4th...why do you think Israel will attempt to destroy ALL iranian nuclear sites?

Israel needs only to destroy 1-2 iranian nuclear sites.Iran will go NUTS and will 100% assume US was helping Israel doing this, retaliating against US bases and US navy, prompting a US devastating bombing of ALL iranian nuclear sites.

See now why Israel can only scratch Iran but will make them so mad that they will retaliate against US, based on the assumption (true btw) that US is in cahoots with Israel?

No need to fly planes from Israel to Iran.First, they will be detected and Iran will be prepared...takes long enough for them to fly from Israel to Iran.Secondly, the Jericho's needs only minutes.

Do not underestimate Israel resolve and crazyness.

f-135 are rubbish.poor range.

poor payload of 2 x 1000 pound bombs.

small wings.

the cost has gone up from from 50 million to $200 million each.$300 million with r&d included.

the vstol version looks likely to be axed.

they have so many problems.

Planes, Radar and bombs ! are you sure the next war is going to fought that way or are you signing your own death warrants because today wars can be fought on the cheap.

"Israel has not signed the 1972 Biological and Toxin Weapons Conventions (BTWC), and believes that progress in advancing the treaty's goals in the region would require significantly improved political stability, discourse, and confidence building in the region. [1] However, Israel has taken steps to strengthen its export control regulations on dual-use biotechnologies and is also examining ways to improve security at sensitive Israeli laboratories. [2] In terms of BW research, development, and deployment"

Most americans are surplus to requirments today and too many are soon going to be asking for the pensions they have paid for all their working lives so won't it be convinent for the bankers if most americans got wiped out using biological weapons from Iran, India, Pakistan or any of the other nations Israel and it's Washington puppets have upset across the world.

Would you like to bet your life without being asked by your masters that Iran might not fight by the rules of people who think they are brave for starting wars and dropping bombs on inocent people from 50,000 ft in the air and if you think having to pay $5000 just to pull a tooth in the USA is bad then what do you think they are going to charge to save your useless a$$ or don't you think hospitals in the USA already work like that with all the "In God we trust" written above the door at the local medical center.

Que the stars and stripes

Telling you guys, start thinking for yourselves because the tea leafs are not looking good to me.

Are you saying they would be wrong or did you forget the 1967 war had US fighters flying and the paint on the wings was still wet or the US-Liberty false flag attack.

You better hope Iran does not go nuts for reaason stated above.

You do realise there is no such aircraft as an F-135. You do realise that the F-135 is an engine.
