And that's the problem. The OP falsely assumed that worship is a common thing for us to do to presidents.

Many presidents also fall under this false assumption.

But we hire them. If we hired a spokesman to speak for a group, he is nothing more than a representative that we hired to do so.

Ah, now I understand where you are coming from and can relate.

I'm trying to rationalize how there could be such a thing as a "Christian Birther" when their ideologies seem to contrast in my mind.

Depending upon your beliefs this whole topic may just be based upon a hypothetical scenario.

Perhaps I was in error when I used the word hypocrisy. To me they are somewhat diametrically opposed (opposites). A birther is someone who says the top leader, or president, must fit certain criteria to be their leader. Christians believe Christ is their leader. I think you are making the seperation that religion or spiritual beliefs have zero effect in politics, seperation of personal choice of spirituality/religion and government/politics. Therein lies your stance and thus you don't consider there to be any direct correlation between a person who avidly supports the natural born clause for presidential eligability and the same person considering themselves to be Christian.

I'm not sure how to counter that arguement at this moment, but at least I better understand your position on this particular issue.

Depending upon which definition of "worship" you are using in that context I both do and do not agree with you that I (the OP) made that assumption.

noun: I would agree with definition #1 of a person of importance. But, not so much with numbers two, three, and four.

verb: Not one, but maybe two. www.merriam-webster.com...

Erm...

Jesus is not around? And I'm pretty sure America is not a Christian nation, what with all the bombing and killing.

Is this some ploy to liken Obama to Jesus to get the nutjob Christians vote?

Well firstly the natural born clause was to prevent anyone withdivided loyalties becoming POTUS - Barak Hussein Obama, fails because he was raised as a muslim (and still is). He is regarded as a muslim by other muslims.

He was born Half keyan or maybe British - adopted later by an Indonesian - he almost certainly applied to college as a foreign student and recieved funding as such - which is why he is hiding all his records,

But more importantly he is a NWO, marxist, socialist 'world Citizen' - ie he has anything but US interests at heart!

But as you say 'you couldn't care if he was from Andromeda' - (so long as he is a Communist)

And FYI - the first 'Birthers' were disgruntled Hillary supporters.

And WTF has Jesus got to do with any of this!?

John 18:36

Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”

Assuming a literal Second Coming, which is what you're arguing, with no doubts as to it being actual Jesus, then POTUS won't be a leader in any way. It will be a title from a bygone age.

There's no dichotomy apart from the one you're trying to make.

That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:- Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise;- —Qur'an, sura 4 (An-Nisa) ayat 157-158[1]

I do not belief that Jesus died on the cross, I belief that he is still alive.
And I doubt that if Jesus was to return to earth that he will turn to America of all the reasons, perhaps he would rather go to Palestine? If he tried to run for presidency he would be slaughtered by the Jews...

1 hes dead and most liberals say never existed but never seem to say allah doesnt exist
2 he wasn't born in America.

No wait never mind being natural born citizen doesn't seem to make a difference.

When you get the chance, straighten my thinking out.

This thread is about the irony and hypocrisy of a group of people in a democracy calling themselves Christians but making it law that Jesus cannot be their leader.
I have two confusions over this statement. the first is that the law you're referring to wasn't passed by anyone alive today, it's in the Constitution. Are you claiming that the nation was founded by Christians? I've heard some controversy on ATS concerning that.

But my greater confusion comes from your use of the word "leader," or POTUS or President. If Jesus were alive, here, in a physical body, first, He wouldn't want the job, and second, I wouldn't want im to have it. I wouldn't want Jesus to be President any more than I would want him to be my accountant, barber, or auto mechanic. That was not His purpose, interest, or training.

This country, this world, was not what Jesus saw as eternally important. His loyalty is to a different Kingdom, a different country. I want my President to have undivided concern for this country. I want my God to have concern for my soul.

I see no irony or hypocrisy in being both Christian and not wanting to give Jesus the job of administering a piece of ground and 5% of the population of the world.

The majority of Americans call themselves Christians.

However:

Can Jesus be president?

I've been following some of these "Birther" threads (yes, even in the [HOAX] forum), and just thought I would share this ironic twist of malicious logic here in the US Political Madness forum.

No, I'm not a "birther". To be totally honest I could care less if the President is from the Andromeda Galaxy, so long as he/she/it can help make the quality of life better for the greater majority.

Besides:

Natural-born-citizen clause of the U.S. Constitution

This requirement was an attempt to allay concerns that foreign aristocrats might immigrate to the new nation and use their wealth and influence to impose a monarchy.
en.wikipedia.org...

Above is the reason for the "natural born citizen clause of the U.S. Constitution" which is what the entire birther arguement is based upon.

Yet, with evidence that 42 of the 43 previous presidents were direct descendants of one King (John Lackland) (foreign aristocrats), and all were related to foreign royalty and nobility, where was the "birther" movement outcry then?

At any rate, as the rules stand as I understand them: Sorry Jesus, you cannot be President.

The point is that rules are rules, and when rules are silently broken you have an unwanted situation. It´s a matter of principle. It´s a matter of lies being told, infromation withheld, that is the point.

Your remark about ther lineage of American presidents is moot, they were all born in the US weren´t they? Almost every American has ancestors that are not from America. If Jesus is not born in america, he should not be eligible for president.

Really not very well thought out at all this thread.

Dear khimbar,

Thank you for your great kindness. I am just a guy standing on the shoulders of giants, and you are one of those giants. Many thanks.

My problem with the OP was the confusion of the Kingdom of God with all the little kingdoms here. Only one is eternal and that's the one that's important. Jesus didn't want to mess around with all the relatively insignificant issues when the Great Prize was in sight.

About me, I'm simple, my name really is Charles and I really was born in 1952.

With respect,

Per the Constitution, Jesus would not qualify to be President.

wow!
You make a troll bait thread and try and wrap it around a way that you intentionally attempt to offend people you don't like and/or appreciate and then get offended by those you intended to offend.
What a waste of e-space.
You simply have no understanding of those you intend to offend All you did is make a great big strawman arg in hopes of STARS AND FLAGS.
In the category of intellectual debate you range in the category of ham sandwhiches vs. egg salad.

I'll play just a little.
During the American Revolution the mantra was "we have but one king and He is Jesus"

Jesus would never aspire to be a voted in president, that would be the antichrist and I have to believe you would fall for his surface charm and flatteries to sell you for your support to be a democraticly elected leader of men.

No, He is King of Kings, Lord of Lords. He does not need yours or our approval for the title He and He alone holds.

NOPE, that is something that is reserved for the master of deceiet, the father of lies.

You see this thread fails from your ignorance of true Biblical Christ disciple beliefs as you NEED to superimpose onto us your own bigotry and ignorance in hopes of flattery in the guise of stars and flags. You see, you do and say those things your father teaches you, as Jesus taught to those that oppsed Him when He was cloaked in human flesh and walked among men teaching of the Kingdom to come.

Not ONCE did He seek the popular route seeking the adulation of corrupt men for the sake of popularity and power. That is reserved for the Deceiver and his minions, his children of thought and deed.

Now go and call me names and cry and rant that I don't follow your troll bait meme.
