And that's the problem. The OP falsely assumed that worship is a common thing for us to do to presidents.

Many presidents also fall under this false assumption.

But we hire them. If we hired a spokesman to speak for a group, he is nothing more than a representative that we hired to do so.

I'm trying to rationalize how there could be such a thing as a "Christian Birther" when their ideologies seem to contrast in my mind.

Depending upon your beliefs this whole topic may just be based upon a hypothetical scenario.

Perhaps I was in error when I used the word hypocrisy. To me they are somewhat diametrically opposed (opposites). A birther is someone who says the top leader, or president, must fit certain criteria to be their leader. Christians believe Christ is their leader. I think you are making the seperation that religion or spiritual beliefs have zero effect in politics, seperation of personal choice of spirituality/religion and government/politics. Therein lies your stance and thus you don't consider there to be any direct correlation between a person who avidly supports the natural born clause for presidential eligability and the same person considering themselves to be Christian.

I'm not sure how to counter that arguement at this moment, but at least I better understand your position on this particular issue.

Assuming a literal Second Coming, which is what you're arguing, with no doubts as to it being actual Jesus, then POTUS won't be a leader in any way. It will be a title from a bygone age.

There's no dichotomy apart from the one you're trying to make.

I do not belief that Jesus died on the cross, I belief that he is still alive.

I have two confusions over this statement. the first is that the law you're referring to wasn't passed by anyone alive today, it's in the Constitution. Are you claiming that the nation was founded by Christians? I've heard some controversy on ATS concerning that.

But my greater confusion comes from your use of the word "leader," or POTUS or President. If Jesus were alive, here, in a physical body, first, He wouldn't want the job, and second, I wouldn't want im to have it. I wouldn't want Jesus to be President any more than I would want him to be my accountant, barber, or auto mechanic. That was not His purpose, interest, or training.

This country, this world, was not what Jesus saw as eternally important. His loyalty is to a different Kingdom, a different country. I want my President to have undivided concern for this country. I want my God to have concern for my soul.

I see no irony or hypocrisy in being both Christian and not wanting to give Jesus the job of administering a piece of ground and 5% of the population of the world.

At any rate, as the rules stand as I understand them: Sorry Jesus, you cannot be President.

The point is that rules are rules, and when rules are silently broken you have an unwanted situation. It´s a matter of principle. It´s a matter of lies being told, infromation withheld, that is the point.

Your remark about ther lineage of American presidents is moot, they were all born in the US weren´t they? Almost every American has ancestors that are not from America. If Jesus is not born in america, he should not be eligible for president.
