Obama rules out military intervention in Syria

debka.com

Despite his strong words against Bashar Assad’s horrendous treatment of the opposition to his rule, US President Barack Obama Tuesday, Feb. 28, has vetoed plans submitted to him last week for Western-Arab military intervention to stop it

Though military options may be on the table at a later date , but right now Obama seems to be trying to confer with the Russians about setting up Humanitarian Corridors. The article has more information on that subject.

I do agree the West should intervene , at least give aid and some protection to civilians. The Syrian government is not picking its targets and are simply killing its citizens without regard to who they may or may not be.

They aren't even attempting controlled contact (using infantry) to secure buildings sections of towns or other operational strong points. They are simply bombarding entire sections of towns and killing people on the streets.

I know their opposition is hiding with the civilian population but this is why you have infantry. To clear those areas out and investigate. You don't simply annihilate an entire grid point because there might be rebels in that area with civilians. If you do attack the rebels in a populated area , its called precision munitions. You dont blanket the entire neighborhood with Arty ...

I think America and NATO need to take a hard long look at the repercussions of stepping down from Russia and China. They need to come to a compromise , not a full-scale back down , "Okay , we are sorry for up setting you , please forgive us" - "Sorry Syria , Russia and China said we can't help you , because they support your genocidal government. Best of luck!"

A swift kick in the nuts to 'freedom of action'. Neoconservatives must be stewing over this one.

Idiot Assad can cordon off the suspect areas and allow citizens to come out twice a day for food and medical help to an area outside of this cordon. Rampant shelling, if indeed happening, will bring his government bad name.

End of the day people in those cities are still Syrians and above all humans and not all rebels launching AKs and RPGs.

Any ENFORCED neutral corridor inside Syria from NATO or Red Cross will be the beginning of military intervention leading to Libya like scenario.

I suspect the reason Russia supports Syria is because the current Syrian government will allow the Russians to build a Russian naval base on the Mediterranean.

Yet another BS debka report.

Remember, debka is written by neo-cons who believe in Santa Claus.

It's as credible as Fulford... the onion is more accurate than Debka.

If their was any action
taken on Syria then the UN
should do it with other countries helping.
I am tired of America having to save everyone.
the syrian government is committing
genocide on their people.
They were so quick to jump on Libya...
Ghaddafi was going after the muslim
brotherhood. The muslim brotherhood
is creating havok in Damascus. They don't
want democracy they want a tyranny field
Islamic state where they can beat and kill
their wives without worry. Hang gays, kill christians. ect.

The situation is sad..

If this isn't credible then what are you and your ideas and views then because those are far from credible too.

Fact is ladies and gents of the anti-America, anti-freedom brigade, Obama is taking the same lack of action that the US and UN did with Libya by staying out of it, sending food and aid when necessary and imposing sanctions until the airstrikes were deemed unavoidable to help the rebels against that now thankfull deceased genocidal madman.
