Monsanto's main protections come from what's called "Investor State" rights in free trade agreements. There's virtually no legal way to shut them down without paying trillions of dollars.

Fact is, corporate "Investor States" have far more rights than citizens, and way more legal power than nations. More money and political power too. Check out my dead-thread for more information: Corporate Investor-States versus Taxpayers

Once a country signs a "free trade" agreement, corporations have the right to sue the nation to protect "future profits" if regulations interfere with their "right to profit" or their "right to future profit." Free trade agreements confirm profit as the primary goal over environmental, public health, transportation and any other concern that gets in the way.

The legal mechanism, protected under international law, is called "Investor-State enforcement" - and allows corporations to bypass domestic court systems and directly sue governments for cash damages (our tax dollars) over alleged violations of their new rights.

We're screwed. But we knew that.

I ask all of you WHAT THE HELL are we going to DO about this?

all very well staring and flagging.

are you going write to the mass media ?

are you going contact congress like you did FOR SOPA AND PIPA ?


or are you all going to sit on your backside and do nothing.

many of you were very concerned about downloading free music/movies and contacted them but when your health is threatened you do nothing but huff and puff in front of your pc in your nice comfortable chair.


so what are you going to do to get GM food banned?

Good for you on that sunroom, that should be too much fun!
That is next up on my list, and some raised beds.

Imagine...all this fun over seeds!
And they cant touch us for it.

I also indulge in eating some seeds, as the B17 in them is a powerful
"cancer" fighting agent. Apples seeds are yummy! I grind the lemon seeds
also and eat them, said to be great for cleansing. And lets not forget those
pumpkin seeds. Add some nice spices to them and roast lightly. They have
zinc.

I really do have fun with the seeds. It was a little end of summer project to take them
all, sort them, and carefully stash them away in envelopes, and label them.

I am also doing seed potato cuts, and those are coming along nicely...
ready to go into the ground.

Yes, I sure do relish the internet...it has been an endless source for finding
the truth. No more dark ages! Long may it last!

I would take all steps immediatly.

We need truth in labeling. Contact your congress people and senators,
and urge for GMO labeling.

Write your local television stations and contact them, ask them do
do a local story promoting a farmers market, and urge people to look
into the health implications of GMO.

Grow your own produce, raise chickens, and buy local, support your
farmers markets.

Find local stores that carry local produce, support them!

Get online petitions, as many as you can, and sign them.

I agree that positive steps need to be taken - but I disagree that talk is pointless. We NEED to talk about all this stuff, to share information, plant seeds, work to alter the memes. There's no other way but by dialogue. True, the Internet is full of paid trolls and garden-variety ideologues marketing their wares, but many more will wake up at 3:00am, someday, thinking, "Oh. I get it!" and start to see the light. ...Ideas are like heritage seeds - they need to be harvested, saved, planted and nurtured. Year after year. 'Tis required by the nature of human consciousness.

Yes, absolutely! Lets keep the dialogue rolling. There is no other way!
I am still shocked to find so many people that just dont know about how GMO is
harmful, and they are very thankful, as I was to be enlightened!

This is a battle that can be won. We may not stop Monsanto
from its evil deeds, but we can sure win over minds to the truth,
and when that happens, essentially we have a large part of the battle won!

I was thrilled to find those videos I had posted previously still up and working!

Another way to fight is to take those videos, and pass them on in emails.
Post them with links back to You Tube and credit the sources.
