US threatens Russia

U.S. Ambassador to Russia Alexander Vershbow said the U.S. is not taking any steps to exclude Russia's participation in post-war restoration in Iraq.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, the ambassador said Russia should show interest in establishing good relations with the new Iraqi government. If this happens, Russia will get influence, the diplomat added.

It appears that he is trying to help Russia. But I guess you can put a spin on anything, and I'm sure someone will believe you eventually.

Setting to one side the dubious credentials of iraqwar.ru, there is no doubt that considerable posturing is going on here.
My impression is that much of it is actually directed at N.Korea who appear to have been rather shaken by the speed of the coalition in Iraq and what appears to be a belligerent stance on the part of some of the chickenhawks. If it brings the Dear Leader to the conference table: three cheers.
