Where's the Pantera? I figured at least somebody would've said them by now, maybe i missed it.

But c'mon tell me "Walk" -Pantera isn't one of the most kick arse metal songs.

Some of those 80s bands that have been mentioned I wouldn't ENTIRELY call "heavy metal"...anyways...here's a few of my favs which also cross a few rock/heavy metal boundaries:

Prong: The whole Rude Awakening album...especially "Mansruin" and "Controller"

Tool: "Aenema" of the Aenema album (and almost all the rest of their stuff
)

Megadeath: "The Killing Road" on the Youthanasia album

Sepultra: "Roots Bloody Roots" on the Roots album

Corrosion of Conformity: "King of the Rotten" on the Wiseblood album

Ozzy Osbourne/Randy Rhoads: "Paranoid" on the Tribute album

I'm gonna have to say three bands that have many of the same members:
Corrosion of Conformity, Pantera, and Down. I'm prolly very biased. More recently, I'd have to say these three bands have put out some of this era's best metal songs. Oh and voivod. Ahh yes voivod!

1) Cum on feel the noise. By Quiet Riot! Quiet Riot Made history by being the first Band to Hit 1 on the billboards!

From the department of Ignorance Denial and credit where credit is due:

Noddy Holder and the camp glam rockers of Slade were responsible for the true and listenable version of Cum On Feel The Noiz, more than a decade earlier.

Metal merchants are some of the greatest rip-off artists, be they Metallica treading the well worn epic path or Led Zeppelin outright stealing 1930s blues without citing their sources.

Long live metal. There is nothing new in rock and roll.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I'd just as soon not start a new one.

Odd's Top Eleven (in alphabetic order):

Aina: The Beast Within
Aina: The Siege of Aina
Black Sabbath: War Pigs
Blue Oyster Cult: Veteran of the Psychic Wars
GWAR: We Kill Everything
Iron Maiden: The Thin Line between Love and Hate
Manowar: Warriors of the World United
Metallica: Enter Sandman
Metallica: For Whom the Bell Tolls
Ozzy Osbourne: No More Tears
Rhapsody: Angels of Darkness

Obscure? Sure. Cheesy? Of course. But does it rock? Hell yes.

Iron Maiden's Women In Uniform, turning cheesy Aussie glam into New Wave British Heavy Metal!

Anything by Rammstein.

Hell, anything by Maiden.

Everything by Acca Dacca.

That first list flashed me back to boarding school. All that hair on Rage every Saturday morning. There hadn't been that much make-up on men since the New Romantic period! Funny how all those bands died when I finished school in '91. Wierd coincidence?!?

Appetite For Destruction, great debut album.

Anything by Poison is pure cheese now. Although Every Rose was quoted by Bill and Ted to God!

Razor's Edge, brilliant "comeback" album.

Warrant? Warrant! Oh please...Cherry Pie is heavy metal? Why not vote for Winger? (serious laughter) Or Europe?

My vote goes to Wierd Al for giving us Bedrock Anthem and Smells Like Nirvana! "He doesn't like to shave, he wears cave-man stubble!"

As Skid Row will tell you they made only one album in the 80's and that was the debut in 89. Lol, but "Skid Row" and Slave to the Grind were good albums.

Awsome ballad man it was the first time a lot of us had seen their actual faces. The lighting on the set was cool too. Heh
