its sad that this day and age people are still classed by skin colour/race/religion

There can be hope only for a society which acts as one big family, not as many separate ones

On one hand maybe that is true, but on the other alot of people are starting to wonder why the onus of "multiculturalism" seems to only fall upon the white people. White people can't go and swamp africa and asia in such a matter, but white countries are expected to mix culturally and genetically. In every predominantly white country the census shows a bleak outlook for whites in the very near future, whilst every other racial makeup will be vigorous.

Not saying this is particularly bad, but pretty damn suspicious if you ask me.

im sure white people just as with any other race are free to live in whatever country they choose too
i understand your point on certain countrys intergrating more ethnic people into there own
is that a bad thing? personally i dont think so no
as long as the people who are wanting to intergrate into that society pay there taxes obey by the laws and not cause suffering or commit crimes

is it bad that chinese people want to set up a slice of town for themselfs and get on with there lifes? possibley not as i know from my own experiences there are many many people out there who have hatred for anthing other than "whites"
but as with anything over time they will see that "we are not the enemy or evil" and are not there to steal your jobs/women or whatever else

at the end of the day neither you or i have controll over goverment decisions so even if we agree or disagree sadly nothing will change and these events will still unfold

We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools!

I would have to say that i think in a multi cultural society that segregated areas (unofficial) is actually a bad thing. By living in ethnic / religious groupings you are not participating in integration and therefore by default are fomenting future problems. If we truly want multi culturalism (i do) then all communities should be mixed to some degree.

History is littered with what-ifs and wild theories. Most are ignored, but one now being posed by a former British submarine commander could eventually rewrite the accepted history of Australia, America and half the world.

Gavin Menzies, a 65-year-old self-confessed "outsider", has sparked heated academic debate by claiming the Chinese beat Europeans to the New World by decades, if not centuries.

If true, his theories would recast the holy trinity of European naval explorers - Captain Cook, Christopher Columbus and Ferdinand Magellan - as followers in the great wake of 15th century China's Admiral Zheng He and his fleet of colossal, nine-masted teak junks.
www.theage.com.au...

The Chinese were here (Aus) long before the Europeans. There is a place in WA where they settled about 500 years ago, cept they didnt stay.
Probably to far away from China and nothing worth trading had been discovered.

Having lived in sunnybank since i was born, worked in a building in fortitude valley, aka inside "Chinatown" itself.

U do realise its purely a commercial gig yes? Oh look text in chinese, few of those dragon guard-dog statues, a few mock-up authentic-ish chinese designs on the buildings. There's a butcher that specialises in chinese meats (lots of ducks strung up in the front windows) as well as other meats + fish.

There's a kickass model shop in the arcade (tho gundams and eva's are a japanese thing no?) as well as several sushi parlors, a macdonalds, a kebab/pizza shop, lots of pubs, hair salon, fruit grocer, weird home decor shop,,

The only real chinese things there is the butcher, chinese resteranuts and the carpark there is owned by an aussie whom immigrated years ago to australia.

oh oh, there's a heap of market stalls there that sell the usual stuff, cheap toys, cheap jewlery, cheap clothes, alot of useless crap, the usual market stuff. again, if you actualy go there you'd notice there's more aussie stall owners than chinese-aussie, same goes for all the shops n stuff inside chinatown itself.

so yes, fear the "chinese invasion", a new China Town on the gold coast designed purely to bring you more useless stores to sell you useless crap, food stalls to fill you up with GMO crap and addatives, and be a general gathering place for people of all nationalities looking to spend some time somewhere at least claimed to be china themed/orientated.

Chinese who migrate everywhere in the world basically settle down and work in foreign countries. These are usually "overseas Chinese" from S.E.Asia , Taiwan, Singapore but normally not from mainland China. Even when they are holding a job they are always looking for opportunity to start their own business eventually when they have saved enough.
Locals always think they do not assimilate well into the neighbourhood when in fact they tend to keep to themselves. It is not like they are stuck up. Chinese kids after school are required to finish their homework and do revision as their parents take education very seriously and as a result there is not much interaction with kids in the neighbourhood. Chinatown is a district where they could open up shops importing and selling dried foodstuff that goes into making Chinese food. For fear that the aroma might be offensive to others its a logical to have the restaurants in a separate place but they would still live in the suburbs. You have Chinatowns all over the world so why are some Australians so uptight about it. I know of a few friends from my country who could live very comfortably here but prefer to migrate to Australia and slog it out again. Why...you may ask? Well he told me its for his children's future. Obviously Australia is better than home even though he'll probably have to put up with some people who live their entire lives in the comfort zone and take things for granted.

That is a very easy question to answer. Freedom. They like it, surprisingly alot of us do
I mean hell, they're now feeding their own people plastic rice... thats how much worth they feel their own people have if they can feed them rubbish and get away with it.

I'd go thru hell and poverty a million times over if it meant getting out of there, and ensuring my children enjoy basic freedoms, and have a far far far less chance of getting snatched off the street to use as unwilling organ donors purely because they're not that well off financly so noone would "miss them"

Yes, they do get it hard as kids, there was a few i got to know thru school that lived in my area, and yes the friendships were terminated by their parents because after school my parents would allways let me ride my bike around, me wanting them to come with on their own bikes must have made their parents knuckle down to enforce their "no, you will study for 6hours and you will enjoy it" thing.

Two different people this happend too me with before my parents were able to explain what was going on in a way i could understand....

As a child you think there's something wrong with you, or they see something wrong with you, your'e bad or a bad influence or what not as you're pretty much cut off completely. This can lead to racism, because as a child you just dont understand whats going on, you realy do feel like you did something wrong or were the problem that caused that reaction.

Maybe because we're simply progressing into a real multicultural society where each countries have their own areas in most other countries? If that happens and people stop fighting over cultural differences so much it might actually be a good thing.

I'm happy I did touch on a few issues that you could relate to and served as an eye opener. Asian parents are strict because even when the children do well in school or universities with degrees there is still the challenge in securing a job. They normally do not have any relatives in that country so when the parents pass on, they'd be on their own. It is every parents' wish to see their children able to stand on their own two feet before they go hence the "no nonsense approach" to education. I wouldn't be surprised if you say they are also not actively involved in sports activities or community work.

Most people who read this thread are through indoctrination by the press....and not by historical fact, believers of ....the notion that only Europeans are racist by nature.
The very fact that the Chinese have lobbied and br$$$$ the host mayors of multiple cities throughout the world, to allow the Chinese race to be allowed to live side by side with their fellow kind as opposed to the local populaces...goes way above the standard definition of racist aims and acceptability.
The dictatorial Chinese govt, hav efunded these centres ..any knowledgeable person knows this, yet the bribing loot , buys many traitors in many lands.
Tibet , google Tibet...see how it is.
We are the invaded, but our leaders the traitors , will retire with all their kin to Monaco, switzerland ect, as the peasants throats are cut by the invaders with printed western dollars.

Stalin didn't stop at Berlin, he just started...wake up.
