Low Michigan turnout blamed on little interest, ballot confusion

www.freep.com

In Sterling Heights, interest seems to be down from the November election when voters choose a mayor and a city council, said clerk Walt Blessed. In that election, more than 9,000 voters requested absentee ballots. For this one, the number is about 7,600.

“We ended up with about 24% turnout,” in November, Blessed said. “It indicates to me that we’ll have about 20% turnout today.”

Port Huron Township Clerk Benita Davis said one of her precincts had tallied only 47 votes by 10 a.m., about 3% of eligible voters. Some voters were confused and a bit put off, she said, by the require

The beginning of the article makes the title seem a little misleading. Read the whole thing. Seems so far, Santorum's attempt to drive democrats to the polls isn't working. But I personally think a low turn out could spell bad news for Romney, could this be the end of Romney if he loses his home state?

Considering it's Romneys 'home state' ... that's pretty pathetic.

Anyways, I'm not surprised at a low turn out. Look at who the GOP is offering ....
Romney is a white Obama. Santorum .. well ... lets just say he's REALLY FAR right.

It'll end up being a race between Obama and Romney.
(Very little daylight between them - so who cares which one wins?)

When your choices all suck it is hard to get motivated to go out and vote.

Just for entertainment value, Id love to see obama v paul or obama v santorum

obama v romney is about as interesting as a debate between a rock and a lump of mud fighting over who is more annoying to step on.

These guys aren't worth wasting any part of the day for.

They all suck, everyone knows it.

And btw...a lower turnout benefits Santorum...i think.

Congrats?? I dont get the point.. Not trying to be insulting.. hard to tell over the internet lol. I just dont get the point you are making.. That its too early for the article to make that kind of assumption? If thats the point, you may be right...

I just want Santorum to win purely for the chaos factor....

Also, I have a bet with my wife, and if I win.. well I cant share it on ATS

I can't understand why he thinks we'd vote for him in the first place! And if I'm understanding the polling data correctly, a lot of people have done the 'early voting' thing.
