Mars At Opposition, March 3-5

I have been waiting for this one to come around again. Can't wait to turn my telescope on it. I will try to get some pictures and post them here.

AT OPPOSITION: Mars is approaching opposition. On March 3-5, the Red Planet will be up all night long, opposite the sun and as close to Earth as it will get in 2012. Mars shines overhead at midnight 6 times brighter than a 1st magnitude star and looks great through a backyard telescope.

Thanks for the update. I'll have to head on outside with my telescope those nights and prepare for a long night of gazing. I sure hope the skies are clear.

Looking forward to it-If the damn foggy clouds give me a chance in Wales.
Scope and camera ready to go...have been for weeks but the weather is conspiring against me it seems.
Been missing some good Venus and Jupiter opportunities.

I predicted this would happen when I ordered my new camera-and it has.
Not a peep of clear sky for weeks here.

Oh well,one day soon-hopefully around March 3-5th..
