Real Dragon Found!

Evidently, dragons, or flying/gliding lizards are a reality.
Supposedly this was found and photographed in Indonesia.



Tiny Dragon Found!

The photos were taken in Buton, Indonesia, in the Lambusango Forest reserve. As far as I can tell, nobody has identified the exact species of this lizard.

It's a fun find, and a cute little thing.

I can see people queuing up at the pet shop should these little guys ever be bred in captivity.
Very lovely colors in the wing membranes.

Looks real.

Beautiful indeed. Bet he'll be worth some money.

Not sure those are wings at all... Lizard have too low metabolism to maintain wings flapping... Those are most probably used when swimming underwater.

Although it's definitely a pretty find, I'm not sure what there is worth getting excited about. Flying lizards are quite common in southeast Asia.

No flapping but they are wings.

Yes it is real. Actually it does not fly it glides. AND because of deforestation theses species are going extinct so enjoy them while they are still around. Basically what is happening is due to the loss of habitat and the fact that it now spends most of its time on the ground and not in trees it is loosing its gliding membrane.

woot! That's awesome.
I use to skydive, and even though it's freefall, and then a glide under canopy after pull, it was still more like flying to me, due the level of apparent control in movement relative to other people in free fall.

It glides with propulsion which is considered flight. Just like this cool little lizard your hand glider is not run on propulsion nor does it flap yes its flight but by definition its gliding. Come on you know better.

I'd say you both glide. Flying squirrels use the same technique as these lizards.

The space shuttle had no propulsion after re-entry. Yes it was flying. Yes I am flying when I fly my hang glider. Yes the lizards are flying when they glide from tree to tree.

There is powered flight and there is unpowered flight. They are both flight.

If these little guys could catch thermals, and through that gain vertical control, would you then consider it flight?

Condors and vultures do quite a bit of 'gliding', but, it's still considered flight.

Phage has vertical control upwards if he can catch a good thermal, and he can stay aloft for hours under the right conditions if he wanted.

It's flight.

These catch thermals too but they are still gliders. These lizards glide because it is controlled falling. they can not take off from the ground they must take off from heights. just like a Hand GLIDER.
