Rae is a socialist whacko that screwed up OntariOWE so badly he was resoundingly trounced from office in the next election.

I disagree. Rae was elected in the middle of a serious recession, albeit attaining power at a point when they least expected it. They were more accustomed to the luxury of opposition. Still...they attacked the recession by throwing money at it (which they now call 'stimulus funding'), and cutting civil service costs with 'Rae Days' (Lets's not forget the ensuing 'Harris Holidays'). I took the hit and it was explained to me that if I could sacrifice a little, they guy next to me could keep his job, I did it without complaint. Rae did about the best that could be done in a bad situation.

As for robo dialers, anyone paying heed to anyone phoning them about a vote or anything else for that matter, needs their head examined thoroughly.

Again, I disagree. Lot's of innocent people are quite accustomed to exercising their franchise without being accosted by this kind of behaviour and would pay attention to such a call...having been brought up in a democracy that did not feel the need for this level of deceit. Sorry...blaming the victim does not work - it's a manner of deflection and as such invites the question of why is the issue not being addressed directly.

Its all a mess, right now. I wonder if its by design.

Obviously. The whole conservative strategy to retain power is to have incompetent parties for its rivals, along with ignorance of the population in regards to actual politics.

The OP story has been around for over a week. Seems like it is picking up steam among non-conservatives, but I doubt that it is going to go anywhere.

I donno about that...it keeps getting slimier...

Conservative scripts misdirected voters in 2011 election, say call centre staff

Callers on behalf of the federal Conservative Party were instructed in the days before last year’s election to read scripts telling voters that Elections Canada had changed their voting locations, say telephone operators who worked for a Thunder Bay-based call centre.

These weren’t “robo-calls,” as automated pre-recorded voice messages as commonly known. They were live real-time calls made into ridings across Canada, the callers say. www.thestar.com... ff?bn=1

I guess we'll see how much teflon Steve can muster up.

As a note: If you watch a video on youtube called "Oh canada, our bought and sold out land", Jack layton makes an appearance in it,
He talks about the crime of the canadian banking system
He knew how this economy worked.

I suggest you watch it. Its enlightening.

I agree with almost everyone here,
This needs to be investigated and those who did this ruse, need to be thrown in jail for a good long while. I knew something was messed up, watching the elections on tv and harper was winning.. There is 1 harper fan for every 40 regular people here.. so, how the hell does he win with a popularity of before 40%?

Blaming the victim is just dumb,
Would you blame someone for being raped?
Would you blame someone for being robbed?
Would you blame someone for being murdered?
Would you blame someone for defrauding your country and supporting the illegal banking system and wars and blatant attacks on our freedom?

Same thing, still a crime.

hmmm... indeed, the slug appears to have made quite the slippery trail... all the way to the top.

While these are obviously very serious allegations, what are the chances that Harper's team will face charges for elections fraud? Who would investigate such a thing on behalf of the Canadian people?

31,000 people have come forward to complain about misleading robocalls...

www.thestar.com...

Elections Canada says it may need additional resources — even the expertise of police — as it probes tens of thousands of reports about misleading and harassing phone calls to voters in the last federal election.

The independent agency confirmed Friday that it has been flooded with 31,000 reports this week from Canadians with information about the calls after political parties and MPs asked the public to come forward.

What started as a report about crank phone calls in the riding of Guelph is now extending across the country as voters come forward with complaints about phone calls that directed them to bogus voting sites or harassing them late at night.

This is growing bigger every day....
I wonder what the outcome will eventually be, and how long it will take to get there?

Well, further to this, as I suspected...

Robocalls: Older voters targeted by election day phone calls, Elections Canada believes
Automated phone calls that directed people to the wrong polling stations in the last federal election may have overwhelmingly targeted older voters, the Toronto Star has learned.
