Judge Rules State Can't Make Pharmacies Sell Plan B Contraceptives in Violation of Religious Belief

A U.S. district judge has ruled that pharmacies in Washington State cannot be "forced" to sell Plan B or other emergency contraceptives.

[color=cyan]The judge, Ronald Leighton, said the state's true goal was to suppress religious objections by druggists - not to promote timely access to the medicines for people who need them.

Apparently this was a Constitutional issue from a lawsuit filed by some pharmacists in 2007.

TACOMA, Wash. -- Washington state cannot force pharmacies to sell Plan B or other emergency contraceptives, a federal judge ruled Wednesday, saying the state's true goal was to suppress religious objections by druggists - not to promote timely access to the medicines for people who need them.

U.S. District Judge Ronald Leighton heard closing arguments earlier this month in a lawsuit that claimed state rules violate the constitutional rights of pharmacists by requiring them to dispense such medicine. The state requires pharmacies to dispense any medication for which there is a community need and to stock a representative assortment of drugs needed by their patients.

Ralph's Thriftway in Olympia, Wash., and two licensed Washington pharmacists sued in 2007, saying that dispensing Plan B would infringe on their religious beliefs because it can prevent the implantation of a fertilized egg, an act they equate with taking human life.

This ruling could set the stage for more objections to ObamaCare in general as well as other State's issues with healthcare funding

This is an example of how some governments are actually making attempts to bypass the U.S. Constitution

Perhaps it's time they use the legal ways to implement Constitutional Amendments

Since there is no actual abortion during this process, then what the religious belief is of moral judgement on the person at hand.

Couldn't the same be then judged on other lifestyles? Could obese people be rejected stuff based on religious belief? (sloth, gluttony). Could they deny any form of treatment that stems from skin cancer/suntanning..after all, if they would be dressed appropriately, they wouldn't have the issues..instead, they decide to dress immorally and lustfully).
