Just when you think the faux-conservative clown show known as FOX can't get any more pathetic, they find another way to raise the bar.

Now Lou Dobbs is going after "liberal agenda" children's movies like The Lorax that clearly pollute young minds with "anti-industrialist" propaganda. I like how he ties the whole thing into Obama's agenda, even though one of the movies is Japanese and the actual story for the other was written by (that Nazi Socialist rhetoric machine) Dr. Seuss over 40 years ago.

Clearly this is just another orchestrated attack on Capitalism. My favorite is the one guest who claims Hollywood is deliberately trying to create a new generation of "Occu-toddlers" (lol).

Anyway, see for yourselfs:

...FOX trying to lecture anyone about "indoctrination" has got to be the very definition of irony.

What a pack of useless, shameless and hypocritic morons.

It also occurs to me that this post will probably draw out the predictable damage con-troll responses from the FOX News fanclub that lurks around every corner of ATS these days.

So all I'm gonna say in response to that is this:

If you're genuinely here because you're interested in conspiracy theories and denying ignorance and all that good stuff (i.e. you're not just a sock-puppet drone), and you honestly can't see how this kind of moronic hyperbole from FOX is just brainwashing intended to breed an army of useful idiots. An army who stands for nothing but greed and plutocracy while pretending to give a flying **** about prosperity or jobs or your freedoms and liberties. If you can't see that - then please watch and comment on these videos instead:

Zeitgeist Addendum:

The Story of Your Enslavement:

The Story of Stuff:

Pyramids of Waste:

Collapse:

These are the sort of ATS-style "indoctrination" videos that lay the whole true conspiracy out in no uncertain terms. This is not about lazy liberal hippies trying to destroy freedom and leech off the system. This is about reality. This is about the fact that the system is fundamentally broken, hijacked and unsustainable. By the very laws of nature it absolutely CANNOT maintain itself at this rate - both economically and environmentally.

We are seeing it collapse more and more every day in front of our very eyes, and yet these elitist shill-wads want you to keep defending it and rushing to its rescue because THEY are getting fantastically wealthy off things the way they are now. They're doing nothing but stirring up the most paranoid sentiments in people and keeping them from seeing the plain ugly truth because it happens to require the slightest shred of critical thinking instead.

If that's too hard for you to see this way, then yeah - maybe go watch/read The Lorax, and take the emotional route. Just have the courage to look at and analyze and think about everything they are so obviously desperate to try and make you avoid.

As a parent, I am actually not a fan of how some children's movies portray environmental topics. I can't comment on the Lorax, as I haven't seen it, but I remember feeling disgusted with Happy Feet several years ago. It was fine until the end, when they portrayed all seagoing fishing vessels as destroying Antarctica and causing the penguins to all starve.

It's one thing to love the earth and keep it clean; it's another to make our kids think that people are evil and a scourge on the earth. And by the way some people here on ATS talk, I can see the propaganda has worked--I've seen people on here talking about how much better the earth would be if all people disappeared. I don't want my kids growing up thinking that.

Imagine that. One mindset that is trying to force their beliefs on others and wants to shut up anyone not in lock-step, complaining about another group who wants to do pretty much the same thing.

Truth be known the Far Left and the Far Right are pretty much the same people.

That was so incredibly stupid that I couldn't finish watching it.

The first guest essentially said "You should be taking an active part in parenting, but if you're going to let your kid see this movie then you're a bad parent because I don't agree with the movie."

Really?

"Occutoddlers"
Sounds like someone's been consulted by Frank Lutz.
I did find the 'borrowers' thing interesting and unusual though, but I don't know enough about Japanese culture to fit that into proper perspective I guess.
So what is wrong with reflecting concern about industrialization that occurs at a level of greed, destruction, and lack of replenishment? I think it is important to realize that there is industrialization, and then there is total obliteration of natural resources with no concern for future or ecosystems. Practices like clear-cutting are not a balanced approach to harvesting resources.

Peace,
spec

Let me get this straight. We're teaching children (through movies) the evils of industrial pollution, which is almost entirely based in fact, and FOX is whining about it?

I see the priorities here.

Why is it you automatically have to degrade this to some ridiculous far-left vs far-right thing? Issues of sustainability and environmental responsibility should be all about common sense and not politics.

This is exactly the sort of polemic nonsense FOX tries to drown the conversation in.

What? Dobb's is dissing Dr. Seuss?

Pfft....

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life's realities.”

FOX accusing someone of "indoctrination" is like a used car dealer dealer accusing someone of being an "opportunist".

Whoa! The weird thing about that quote is it could almost be used to describe watching FOX, except replace "laugh at" with "shut yourself off from, in a cocoon of absurd paranoia and hyperbole"

Does anyone take Fox News seriously?

Are those people really out there???

It's tabloid TV for crying out loud. No different than the National Enquirer, except the pictures move, and the people speak.

Indoctrination?

BREAKING NEWS! POT CALLS KETTLE BLACK!!!

I can't even bear to watch a clip when it's posted here. It's painful watching people try to look and sound so perfect, when in reality they have about as much intelligence as a box of Lucky Charms.

Politics is essentially a game in which you have to learn the art of making all the right people happy, and crapping on the rest.

It is a very fine art. And by fine, I mean delicate...there is no room for moral etiquette in the game.

The reason I bring this up is because of the inevitable inclusion of political arguments in this "liberal, anti-industrial" thread. Personally, I will not argue politics. Why? Because anything that includes the voice of politics, excludes the voice of morale.

I couldn't watch the video.
I am NOT a fan of fox news.

BUT... as someone that has watched the original version of the Lorax many times and loved it, the new one does completely ram everything down your throat. Hollywood has most definitely made this version over the top.

Do yourself a favor a watch the original.

Wait. You're saying Hollywood is shoving anti-industrialism down our throats? That we're going to get nonstop propaganda proclaiming the evils of pollution and wildlife decimation? ...and we're supposed to COMPLAIN about this?

Maybe they should host a mass viewing in the White House. I'm pretty sure they'll be bickering, too, once all of the trees are gone.

Oh, wait...they'll just raise them in laboratories.

Just maybe Dobbs is right. Maybe we should just go ahead and distroy everything on and about this planet that we can.

We have lived for years in a totally disposable society. Why stop just because we are running out of the very stuff that keeps us alive.

The sooner we can pilage and distroy the entire planet, the less time we will have to live under some One World Government the politicians are trying to push on us.

Maybe then they will move off to some other place and let the rest of us die in peace.

I'd rather my kids grow up to understand the truth and not live in a fantasy world of lies and believe that the pharmaceutical companies with their mood altering drugs are the answer for coping with all the lies, BS, and inconsistencies that we are bombarded with.

I would rather face the truth and learn and grow from it, than isolat myself in a fantasy world believing everything will be okay, because it is not! That is what they want, mindless sheeple, zombies if you will... all the while we have environmental and human injustices happening which we do nothing about. Apathy, laziness and ignorance have little value in combatin those who would rather seek and destroy all in their path in order to maintain and increase their personal gain.

I guess you could put it that way.
The original is shorter, darker and makes a very strong point, without the over the top, dumbed down extras.

Have you watched it?
